one more bang until we go,
stangled by the school,
are you coming along?
don't worry it won't take long
well we're holding out a prayer,
talk about a double-dare
and you're dull, and you're dull, and you're dull, et cetera |

such a beautiful song, and how about the harmonies of vashti bunya? it certainly would make anyone feel like rejoicing. as far as the meaning, i hear he worships the sun and that's what he's referring to when he says "the golden empress." the full title of the album/song being "rejoicing in the hands of the golden empress" |

whenever i hear this song the liquid sounding background reminds me of beer guzzling/urination/parties aka all the drinking one does in college. some drunk college kid going uh. . ., ah. . ., then -- you don't have to go to college. i'd say the song is a mix of disco inferno's "sharky waters" and beach boys vocals with an extra special twist. |

the opening "is the food bothering you?"
the first stanza "auteur in hibernation"
the ending "do you remember our forfeits?"
i don't know if these are correct or not. i just thought i'd toss them out there. i had no idea it was "fat nuns and tenors" or "here we come mister airplane." i thought it was "nonsense scanners" and "yeah we can't miss your airplane." good ear to the person who transcribed this song. animal collective-sung tongs~best album ever. |

so that makes sense, it's probably about a relationship he had with someone while he was in college. maybe that goes without saying, but it really adds a lot more to the song. plotting their lives ahead of them, falling in and out of love and away from each other. for how song the sad is, it's incredibly intimate. i guess that's the way it's supposed to be though. |

some of the lyrics for this song are incorrect. "it's eery and so scary, i don't know who to marry" "it's saved me once to often, you never know how often, i've pictured you in coffins" (i think it's the thought of losing her has saved him from becoming apathetic; you don't know what you have until you've lost it) and i think he's referring to someone as Q, not cute. the song as a whole is about how he acts in relationships. it's about a girl that he cares about and she obviously cares about him (her sister came to beat him up over something he'd done to her). it's sort of a twisted love song, but beautiful for its fidelity--love isn't as simple as a hallmark card. |
