The abortion issue is huge in the U$A...and it pisses me off. As a Feminist, I fight for abortion rights but it bothers me that I have to take up my time doing it. I don't think that there should even be an issue, because it's a private thing.
Something that I would like to point out though, is an issue that I have within the abortion argument. It really bothers me that men would partake in the decision to end a woman's right to an abortion. And maybe it's just because I'm a Feminist...but it doesn't seem quite right to me, that men should be able to take away a vital aspect of Women's Rights. Men are never going to have to deal with choosing to have an abortion or not...so why should they be telling women that it's wrong when it's something that they don't understand (and can't ever understand). The emotions that a woman who chooses to have an abortion feels must be extreme -and the fact that there are men, a gender that won't ever experience that horror, that would tell her that she's a bad person for choosing to and that God doesn't approve or whatever, really REALLY bothers me.
This is a woman's issue and a woman's arguement...notice the singularity of woman...a woman's problem, and a woman's debate...let a woman struggle with it on her own, unless she asks you for your input.
Don't keep posting massive messages telling women that if we feels like we have no other options that we're bad people, and sinners. Posts like these, and songs like these, are hurtful to women who have made the choice to have her unborn FETUS "killed". And personally, I think that hurting someone knowingly is more of a sin than a woman having a group of cells removed from her body (NOTE: a procedure similar to removing cells for testing, or even removing cancer cells...so those of you who say that it's wrong because you're taking a part of the body that God gave to you or that it's against His will because "Everything happens of God's will" or "Everything happens for a reason", why is it okay to do so during operations, etc.? ... or do you just mean that organ transplants and operations involving removing body parts or cells is also immoral...)
DISCLAIMER: Don't get me wrong, abortions definitly shouldn't be used as birth control...
Also, I do realize that this just took up a good 10 minutes of my life and that it's at the end of 15 pages of posts ... and possibly, no one will even read it. |

this band is local to me...my best friend goes to school with one of the band members (she's in History of Rock and Roll with him) so i've had their unreleased CD (Paper Cut Chronicles) for a couple months already. I'm glad to see that they're getting bigger. I heard them on the radio the other day and this song is on smartpunk.com right now...i think it's awesome. i like this song a lot too, i remember the first time i heard it, i was so syked. But their CD (the previously unrealeased one i was talking about) comes out real soon, so look for it, it's awesome. |

This song is amazing...and it goes right along with the movie. Examples...Large in Garden State being so numb to the world on all of his drugs...this song is saying (as if speaking to him...) "you've got no idea what you're like...so let go..." the song is saying that you need to be yourself, and experience life for yourself, without the numbness that drugs provide. "you've got no idea what you're like" is one of my favorite lines. Also, people have been saying that the lines "so hand me that remote, can't you see that all that stuff's a sideshow" are about television...but i don't see it. when you put it together with the next lines: "such boundless pleasure, we've no time for later now, you can't await your own arrival, you've 20 seconds to comply" it seems to be talking about focusing in on what's important...not the distractions of life. (like in the movie, focusing in on Sam, and not on Andrew's life at home)...and the other line that really gets me is "there's beauty in the breakdown." it's so meaningful and enlightening. AND it's true! it reminds me of the part in the movie with Andrew and Sam in the bathtub...when Andrew cries for the first time in like nine years or something crazy, and Sam mocks him by catching it in a cup. It was so beautiful, Andrew's breakdown...Everyone needs to have a good cry every once in a while. It's important to let out that emotion...so, to me, i think that that line is about tears...and how beautiful breakdown can truely be. |

this song is amazing...the lyrics are really deep. i have an exboyfriend who used to sing it to me, so i always think about him when i hear it. to me, it's a very romantic song...and it's good no matter what phase of a relationship you're in...before, during, after...when he sang it to me, it just meant that when i'm not around, he remembers me and can still think about me...that is, short periods of time that i didn't see him, and long periods of time, like now that we're not together. he went as far as to write my name on two pennies one day...as if to tell me that if we're not together someday, he'll still be thinking about me. "i stick loneliness, your lips and the two coins of your eyes, into my pockets, yeah...and i reach into my pockets for some small change..." |

The feud between Brand New and Taking Back Sunday is real...the songs that they sing "Seventy times seven" and "There's no I in Team" are about it. This song though, is amazing. I think of it as an awesome graduation song...with me and all of my friends. It's crazy cool. It's about all of those awesome summers hanging out with friends real late at night...just reflecting and reminising. I love to listen to it when I'm thinking about those times... |
