my favorite engine down song of all time. i love everything about this song...the guitar textures, the drums, keeley's signature melodic minor key melodies...as far as what it means, i agree somewhat with tweph as far as taking things for granted, however most (if not all) of ED's lyrics are so vague and obscure, it's probably impossible to tell for sure, unless you asked the band themselves for the meaning. not that obscurity is a bad thing neccessarily..it leaves room for open ideas and personal interpretations.:)

Converge – The Broken Vow Lyrics

Probably my favorite converge song. once again, jake bannon proves what an incredible songwriter/visionary artist he is. the guy just keeps pouring his heart out into his music, and with this one, you can just feel it. if you've ever been in a relationship gone bad, been let down/lost trust in someone who you care/d about deeply, then you can relate to this. from the writer's perspective, the person has been so hurt by a particular experience that he/she will 'take their love to the grave', implying that they'll never open up and love again. yes..quite bitter indeed...but when you experience it firsthand, it becomes easily understandable. oh..and when bannon screams 'and i write this for the loveless'...that whole part...wow...you can just feel the rage in the music.

Converge – Last Light Lyrics

wow, i can't believe nobody has commented on this song yet. such an amazing song from the new album. anyway...judging from what the overall tone of you fail me seems to be, i think that this song is meant to be an 'encouragement' to the downhearted. jake bannon has such a unique way of creating poetic imagery...in this song, the message seems to be to not give up, to keep on. whatever the circumstances may be, or whatever may have happened, you still have to go on and to not give up. i think this is especially evident in the last part of the song (keep breathing, keep living/keeping searching etc etc) good stuff.

yet another amazing song by mr. corgan himself. i think it's pretty self explanatory as to what it's about-about one showing/admitting his/her affections for another. however, i also think that there's an element of mystery to the tone of the song as well ("but you just can't tell who you love and who you won't") possibly implying that the particular person doesn't feel the same way about them. overall, very nice song. great melody.

Agree with jawbrokenrhymes. it's definitely about a guy who obviously has a special someone in mind, but for some reason or another, cannot come to the reality of admitting it/telling her. straight out of the high school drama book. good song though. has a nice feel to it.
