He was catholic as a child, then he decided to leave the religion because he thought it was too "death prone". Then he went back to the religion because he felt foolish trying to deny christ because of something stupid like death. urlacher, you obviously dont know too much about the subject matter, or else you would have referred to the "700 Club" using its correct name. Anyways, donations from those shows go directly to helping the needy and church maintainence. And of course some of it goes to the preachers, and the people working at that church, but only enough to keep them alive. Sure there's a lot of greedy corrupt people in the churches, but that doesnt mean they all have to be labeled as such. I'm a christian, however I dont set foot in church simply because I feel the house of god is tainted as of late. However, theres still churches and televangelism programs who really are using the profits gained to help mankind and help build more churches. I highly doubt CC is singing about something as controversial as that, because its just not his style. I actually have to agree with SwornToTheBlack about this; it has to do with an addiction that's costing him his time, money, and life. |

I mean I hate to bring up religious stuff, but its quite obvious thruoghout this entire album Chris sings about god, and various other things like that. He's a Catholic... He's subsceded from that (ie. in the hands of satan?), and he's repented, and wants access into the kingdom of heaven. How does one do that? By breaking free from satan's grasp. Well, think about it this way. Recording companies tend to make thier artists sign contracts. No one seems to be thinking about that aspect. Perhaps theyre bound by contract, and cant break free from it? I mean, it is definately a fact, that almost every artist is unhappy with thier record companies. But thats becuase they have to do a bunch of shit the company tells em to do, and they cant do what they want to do. I'm sure that if Korn hadnt gotten a big record deal and everything (which ALWAYS sounds good when you first sign onto it... until they start making you thier audio-bitches), they still would have made it. They could have played as many gigs as they could get, start thier own label for themselves, and produced thier own music. Its pretty inevitable. It seems people like to be spiteful to artists just because they hate thier label, and the industry... Look at Kirt Cobain. Ever since he had become this big grunge star, he hated it. The whole industry, going out and playing gigs, and the psycho stardom, but everyone seems to be all over him like he's some god even today. Jon Davis says the same stuff, and he's shunned. I think the ones who would praise Kirt over this, and shun Jon over the same issue are the hypocrits. However, this will go in circles. We cant really know why he's lashing out against his label unless he actually told us. So, *shrugs* oh well. |

KoRn is not goth. Just becuase the goth audience listens to them, doesnt mean they should be labeled accordingly. If you didnt notice, Jon Davis HATES being labelled something he's not. The song is about the recording industry. For Freak on a Leash, Jon had stated "One of the best titles I've ever heard for a song. That's my song against the music industry. Like me feeling like I'm a fuckin' pimp, a prostitute. Like I'm paraded around. I'm this freak paraded around but I got corporate America fuckin' making all the money while it's taking a part of me. It's like they stole something from me, they stole my innocence and I'm not calm anymore. I worry constantly." That OBVIOUSLY shows his deep hatred for the recording industry. This song is just another testimate to how much he hates it. His label asks for another single, he says "Fuck that.". Simple as pie. As for the recording industry "helping them"... Well, thats bullshit. No label "helps" thier artists. They only exploit them. So you cant really say Korn's a bunch of hypocrits for lashing out against the industry. If you knew what the industry was like, you wouldnt be labeling them as you have. Everyone hates being exploited. |
