| Every Time I Die – Kill the Music Lyrics

Without naming names *coughA7Xlostprophetslinkinparkcough* this song certainly seems to be about bands who abandon their roots in search of fame. Bravery of oblivion to my mind evokes how it is to not get recognised for what you do, but still do it cos you know it's good. Also some parts refer to how things will be if original bands do die out, and how we'll hark back to the good ol days of ETID and Norma Jean where it was done for love of it all. Keith Buckley rules! |

In my opinion it's about a relationship that's ending. Maybe not a loving one, I dunno. Possibly alcoholism is involved.
Any idea when the Not Forgotten album is out? |

Haha, maybe that's the point. For me, it's about taking the romance out of love and marriage and replacing it with strict routine. People who have pre-nuptial agreements and only stay together cos it makes good business sense to take your partner to corporate functions. I attribute this translation to my drunken demeanour and stong CD portfolio... |

| The Chariot – And Then, Came Then Lyrics

It's weird that Dimmu Borgir and The Chariot or Norma Jean both evoke similar feelings with their music, but are singing about completely opposite things! Is it wrong to love both (for their artistry?) |

I've listened to this song over and over and over again (mainly cos I imagine what a sweet music vid you could make for it!) and I'm of the opinion that the song concerns the possibility that second great flood might have crossed our Creator's mind, and how NJ aren't just gonna accept that that's our fate and try to turn this world around and put us back on track. |

I really like this new NJ sound. I've said it before, but their lyrics are returning to the style of Throwing Myself in that they're more based in punk anarchy asking questions why as opposed to the views of a melancholic holy trinity on Bless The Martyr. Can't wait for the new album, this song sounds like it's gonna be hot! |

How many people do you know where a white tie with a black jacket? This is a phenomenal song...as is most of Norma Jean's work, long or short it always has a poignant message. I used to just enjoy the melody at the end of the Bless The Martyr album, but when I properly listened to this I understood the message. Think Little Nicky..."Release the goooood!" Depending on what age I perish from the world, I want this song to be played at my funeral. It closed off my favourite album perfectly, it should close me off just as well, lol! What on Earth am I on about...? |

| Blindside – Pitiful Lyrics

While religion is the cause of most wars, it's also something that gives hope, and therein the strength to end wars. Even without religion we would war, because that is human nature. "The tunnel will never cease to exist, so it's up to us to create a light at the end of it"
Perhaps people should try to remember that because of someone's religious beliefs songs like this are written in the first place. Bands like Norma Jean, Blindside, The chariot, Dead Poetic...they all draw from their beliefs- their strengths, to write some of the best music in metal and rock.
I first heard this song live at a Disturbed gig they opened. They were crap, but that's probably cos of a tough crowd giving them a hard time cos the other support band ran out at the last minute leaving them to do a set to a crowd that had been waiting for over an hour and a half, freezing and bored.
Anyways, NHL 2003 put this on the OST and it's been a fixture on my MP3 player ever since. These boys came good in the end, and after travelling from their native Scandiinavia to the US to pursue their dream, all the best to them! |

Very simple. He's alone, he's going wrong, then God comes into his life and saves him. However, the evils of the world persist, and this is a cry for divine help to steady the path. |

You obviously haven't heard Norma Jean or Hopesfall then. Probably too heavy for your liking, but Norma Jean/Luti Kriss have a subtle style, which is only blindingly obvious when you read the lyrics. This is my favourite DP song thusfar. I interpret it as being stuck in a big wide world with nowhere to turn to for guidance apart from the things you know are only a short-term fix. |

I'm sensing a lot of regret. Hurting oneself only to realise that it was the wrong to do, perhaps? A tremendous song which centres around love and not anger, which after all is what life should be about. |

OMG, everything that has been on my mind has finally been put into words for me!!! I got the immediate impression from Howard that he was less subtle than Jesse David, even on Spirals with BHBS. It's impossible to compare the styles of the two without entering a wormhole of awesomeness where the mind is stretched in ways it was not meant to. |

I loved this song from the first moment I heard it, even with not being a dark metal fan. This sort of thing always seemed inferior to other metal, but hey, that was before I found Dimmu Borgir, who are far ahead of others, including dark metal stereotypes Cradle of Filth. I personally view it as a song about an army battling against a rebellion, or a heresy whereby a power wants control over all, and those who cling to religion are being wiped out as a result. |

I totally agree with Coredump. I didn't like the song when I first heard it cos it went against everything that was Finch, but the more I listened to it the more I loved it for it's own merits...and being a hardcore fan with faves like Norma Jean and killswitch engage this is right up my alley. Brilliant. |

I love this song...definitely one that sticks out on the album, for nothing if not it's ambient feel. I think it's about corruption and abuse of power in the high levels of the world, either government or society, and he's been persecuted against as a result. |

IMHO, I think the song is about a guy who has just killed his 'favourite' prostitute, and is dragging her corpse around the red light district. The power-violence influencing of RN is getting in my brain, lol |

Jesse is an artist in the purest form...actually expressing deep emotions with emotions. When I heard this song I thought about my ex-girlfriend, and the things she did to tear us apart...but then it helped me realise that it was mainly my fault...and while I didn't really get this song because of my emotional attachment to it, it still sent shivers down my spine when I heard it, and still does. Killswitch are a metal band with a hardcore & melody style...that was until the new album, which I'm not all that keen on in Killswitch terms, but as a metal fan, I still think it's great, lol! |

I think everyone's on the right track...the world's heading in a downward spiral and unless we work together and get a plan in action then it may be too late. Someone should send this song to George Dubya... |
