"Up" is where he wanted to be, in the first verse, but now, it's reversed. Now he wants to be "left," but now she's up. It sounds to me like he's wanting to go back to where they were, but now she's "up," and doesn't need him anymore. |

I think it's about someone who puts on this fake personality, and pretends that they're in love, but in reality, they weren't serious about any of it. When you think "plastic," you think fake or not-real, and that's exactly what this love is. "Look up, look where you wanna be." The guy "looking up" is actually dreaming of what he wants his life to be like, and he just pushed her to the side, and left her. The guy in this song is a jerk. |
