Belle & Sebastian – I'm a Cuckoo Lyrics 21 years ago
Holy moly, this song is sweet. My band covered it at our last show and it was a blast. Of course, no one in the audience had any idea what it was, but they liked it anyways. Great tune!

The Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight, Tonight Lyrics 21 years ago
This song just totally gets you pumped up for anything. I love the galloping snare rolls from Jimmy, the soaring string section adds a great touch without coming off as pretentious and cheesy. But yeah, as far as interpretation goes I think it's just that excited, nervous anticipation that comes before anything big that's about to happen to us. Tonight, anything can happen, so lets make the most of it.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Cupid De Locke Lyrics 21 years ago
One of my favourite songs period, because it fits a particular mood that I haven't found in other songs of the same vien. Are there any direct quotes from "Romeo and Juliet?" it's been a while since I read it. Either way, that's exactly what it brings to mind. They totally should have used this song in the costume party scene in the modern movie with Lenoardo DeCaprio, when Romeo and Juliet first spot one another. Yes, I've seen that movie and I am ashamed. There goes my "cool" cred...

R.E.M. – Orange Crush Lyrics 21 years ago
I think I recall Michael saying that this song was about being picked up from your normal environment and being dropped somewhere foreign and strange. Check out the interview on launch.com

R.E.M. – Leaving New York Lyrics 21 years ago
A great song, I love how R.E.M. has a tune to fit any mood I'm in. Now, Micheal said in an interview I watched on launch.com that his songs are not biographical, which I like because it kind of opens them up for interpretation. I suppose you could take this song a few different ways, but when I listen to it I think of a relationship ending, with one of the parties involved running away from the other. The chorus makes me picture the person leaving staring out the window of an airplane, crying with regret wondering, "what if?" Maybe some things were left unsaid? I just saw the video the other day which takes place in an isolated airport, so that sort of helps with my personal take. I can't wait to see them live for the first time in 3 days!
