Owen Pallett – He Poos Clouds Lyrics 17 years ago
"Gotta be a friend to Grandmother" refers to Zelda: Wind Waker. Link and his sister are raised by their grandmother, and when Link leaves home (and his sister is kidnapped), she becomes extremely depressed. If you visit her, she returns to her old self.

Arcade Fire – Keep the Car Running Lyrics 17 years ago
I sort of get a vision of a guy fleeing the Draft. Given the themes of Neon Bible, it's not far-fetched to believe that might be what the song's about.

Arcade Fire – No Cars Go Lyrics 17 years ago
I get a sense of the void. I think the song does have something to do with kids' imaginations, and kids don't always imagine happy things. In fact, kids sense things we can't, and maybe that's what the song's about. Some sort of dark disaster the rest of us can't see coming, but "us kids know." They describe it to the best of their ability: a place where nothing goes, something not unlike the empty space between being awake and dreaming.

Yeah, I only just heard "Bourbon" has yet to be released. Oh well. Neat song anyway.

The Killers – Where the White Boys Dance Lyrics 17 years ago
So, is this part of the Murder Trilogy? I'm not sure what other song it could be, honestly, and this one fits well.

Yeah, he's obviously gay and messing around on her with another guy, but at the same time he could be in some kind of denial (I used to rent a basement apartment from someone in the very same mindset, ohoho fun times). "She" (Jenny?) tries to go somewhere to get her mind off things, and "He" has kind of a panicked double-thought running in his head: "She knows I'm gay / She's cheating on me because of it." Thus follows Midnight Show and Jenny Was a Friend of Mine.

I could be 100% wrong. After all, I thought the final murder trilogy song was supposed to be called Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf. I'm kind of a casual Killers fan, but the trilogy had me intrigued.

Social Distortion – Reach for the Sky Lyrics 19 years ago
Way I hear it, the lead singer of Social Distortion (name slips me at the moment /_\) was in jail for a time, and he wrote this afterwards. I think it's about living for the moment, as others have suggested, but I also think that there's a message about how sometimes you have to fight for what you believe in ... and sometimes, to protect those you care about, you have to surrender and pay your dues.

AFI – Silver And Cold Lyrics 19 years ago
When I first heard this song, I instantly thought about temptation, and adultery in general. That's what I think it's about; being seduced, then regretting it later. It's (sometimes) easy enough to keep such secrets from your spouse, but God is supposed to know and see all, and the person in the song realises this, which is why he begs for forgiveness.
