I am sorry to burst anyones bubble by saying that this IS NOT a sappy love song about a girl, blah blah blah. As a few have said before this is about the former band member, Sid. Sid experienced with many psychotropic drugs which eventually lead to his demise as a band memeber, and a functional member of society. This song is about Sid's stuggle with keeping his sanity. The lyrics are only a fraction of what makes this song so wonderful. I could listen to this song with no lyrics at all and still see the immense talent of the band and the emotion that they try to envoke. |

I totally agree johnpauljones86. If the music industry was more concerned with talent as opposed to catchy little pop songs, we would have more of Van Morrison and those like him |

I agree with majii. Brown Eyed Girl is merely a pop song that surely doesn't define Morrison as a singer/songwriter/musician. For those who are interested in Morrison's extreme talent listen to Sweet Thing as musikfreak mentioned. Into the Mystic, Tupelo Honey, Warm Love, anything from Astral Weeks. There are far to many to list, but please don't stop at Brown Eyed Girl. Morrison's brilliance has been downplayed for years. He's a genius |
