i think that this song is about the end of depression and the beginning of happiness. "you finally understand the movement of a hand waving you goodbye" refers to the death of the sadness which once ruled the life. it is so because he describes beauty in this song, and it's really nice. a nice message of hope, well, to me at least that's what it means.
bright eyes is amazing in concert, despite all of the screaming little drunk girls. meh..it sort of fucks up the experience, though. not too much. |

i think that it's about wanting to lead a more exciting life. his life is dull, and everything is the same every day, and he can't really change it. the motorcycle gang represents something completely different, and not by society's standards(lawyer, doctor, and all those other "successful" jobs). and i think that "and fucked up all the time" refers to his emotional status.
