Damien Rice – Volcano Lyrics 21 years ago
Oh, I guess I didn't explain the volcanoes part very well... I think he was telling her not to fall in love with him, because he was liable to break her heart, as building a house near a volcano would lead to the possibility of an eruption. He was warning her of his inability to be satisfied, his displeasure with her worshipfulness, and his inevitable lack of love for her.

I guess.

the way I took the phrase "don't build your world around volcanoes," the speaker (well, damien, presumably) thinks of himself as too volatile for her. His high-maintainanceness and/or volatility (?) is confirmed in "you give me miles and miles of mountains and I'll ask for the sea." You can take "don't hold yourself like that, you'll hurt your knees" as literally as you like: either he didn't like her blowjobs (seems unlikely to me) or he didn't like her worshipful posture (think Wayne and Garth meeting Alice Cooper) He was took advantage of her worshipfulness, whether to avoid being alone or for sex, whichever, but has now realized he doesn't really love her because she doesn't have the power to hurt him ("what I really need is what makes me bleed").

Anyway, that's what I took out of it. The mouth and back part still doesn't really fit in my mind... theories?
