The June Spirit – On The Eight Day Lyrics 18 years ago
This song just came on randomly and I still love it. Sigh.

I've found my Boston and oddly enough it is in California.

Melissa Etheridge – I Run For Life Lyrics 19 years ago
They have been using this song in the background of breast cancer walk/run ads (Specifically the 3 day ones.)

I didn't know if it was an 'actual' song or just something for the events. Either way it is extremely powerful to hear this:

"I run for hope
I run to feel
I run for the truth
For all that is real
I run for your mother, your sister, your wife
I run for you and me, my friend
I run for life"

I doubt it is much about feminism at all, Etheridge is a breat cancer survivor herself isn't she?

Nine Days – If I Am Lyrics 21 years ago
I won't mention tomorrow.
And we won't make those promises that we can't keep

I think it is a mature, if slightly pessimistic view, to realize no matter how much you want to help someone (hands upheld to catch you) you will always eventually hurt them/let them down in some way, large or small, and thus avoid promising everything will be perfect tomorrow. (Holy run on sentence batman!)

I love this song.

Dramarama – Work For Food Lyrics 21 years ago
Probably one of my most commonly tabbed Dramarama songs. This group is up there with the most under rated bands of the late 80s early 90s.

This song nearly word for word describes a friend of mine. Aside from the obvious story line, I also feel it is saying there is more to life than your job title.

Dramarama – Incredible Lyrics 21 years ago
This is my all time favorite love song.
Only John Easdale can write a love song without the usual cheese factor.

It’s simply wonderful

Ani DiFranco – Gravel Lyrics 21 years ago
In addition to what ahs been mentioned so far, I love the way the percussive guitar gives sound to the verbal imagery.
"I heard the sound of your bike as the wheels hit the gravel"

This song has been blasted on many of my roadtrips. Never fails to bring the energy!

R.E.M. – Nightswimming Lyrics 21 years ago
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
turned around backwards so the windshield shows.
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse.

This is the main song takes me back to high school. I always found this description poetic of veiwing the past through the photos relection. Not to mention the cello (and all the strings) in the intro pull at my heart strings everytime I hear this song. I miss those days.

This was the first Bain song I heard. It completely hooked me.

Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics 21 years ago
I first heard this song when I happened upon Snow Patrol doing an instore. Loved it, I thought it would be something wonderful to have a parent say to a child. "Light up, light up /As if you have a choice /Even if you cannot hear my voice /I'll be right beside you dear "
Made me regret not being closer to my family, and I actually called them after hearing this song live.

joethecanadian on 10-20-2004 shared the interview quotes confirming what I felt in my gut about this song. Thanks for sharing that.
