I think the best line in the song, for me. It's like wearing a mask all the time. You can't show the real you to others for fear that you'll lose your "impression". Perfectionism. Bad Perfectionism. You think that people like you for what you can do, rather who you are. So you try to appear more tough, more indomitable than you really are ("And I get scared but I'm not crawling on my knees "). Afraid of showing any weakness. Been hurt in the past a lot so, what you did was build this fortress in which you imprisoned yourself. You don't like it, but you can't imagine living without it. It's a kind of a paradox really, asking for help, but afraid to receive it. As for the "sympathy" it's like there's this one person who finally "saw" you. but instead of being nice, all you managed to do was push the person further away. Of course it hurts but, it would hurt more if you open yourself up and be rejected again. |

"I love the you love But I hate the way I'm supposed to love you back." That's my most favorite line. Anyway, I think this song is about wantng to be loved so badly and yet pushing those who want to love you away. Like I do. It's like "I like you. Yeah. But I hate you for making me like you. So stay way." Am i making any sense? |
