OMG. Brandon is an artist to his core. There is nothing he sucks at. He draws amazing, sings amazing, writes lyrics and music amazing. I swear to bhudda that next week he's just gonna turn into a ball of... art energy... and just... exist...; of course if that was possible, Chris Cornell would have been one of the first... |

I dig the lounge version. I was actually originally enthralled with the tune of the lounge version until I payed attention to the lyrics. They're so freakin nice. I find (and I'm probably wrong) that Brandon's lyrics tend to speak his mind very forceful, yet polished. (see also the person he's fed up with in "Blood on the ground") |

If "Across the Night" is the butterfly fluttering just after the metamorphosis, this song (along with "My Favourite thing") is the beauty of the butterfly when it lands. | Temple of the Dog – Wooden Jesus Lyrics

Sorry to disagree, but in my humble (but accurate) opinion, this song is mocking the inherent greed of religious capitalism. The "wooden Jesus" (crucifix) and "Porcelain Mary" are both things that you would find on the wall or in the yard of a typical Catholic's house. Now, I'm a Christian (with good musical taste), but I actually agree with the driving point of this song: people who package Jesus memorabilia just to make money give real Christians a bad name. |
