I think this song is Trent actually singing to his addiction. Just listen to it and think about him singing to the part of him that craves drugs and addiction. Making things up to hurt himself. Looking right through himself and seeing his desire for drugs. Being taken away to a place that was never really real to begin with. It all just fits, at least to me. |

I felt that the entire animal in the cage part seemed like people at the zoo looking at a wild animal. We think that we have the animal in a cage, but Trent's trying to make us ask ourselves if we're actually the ones in a cage of belief and illusions that we've built up around us. That we're almost too afraid to look into the mirror and ask ourselves if we really lived up to our expectations in the end or if we just continue to just keep on living in our illusions of lives. I know this is still early and the albumn isn't officially out yet, but this song had an even deeper impact on me that "Hurt". I was almost just so touched by it. Amazing song. |
