The meaning to me is someone that has forgotten who he really was Throughout the song he is talking about how wonderful it is to be himself again. Something happened, and he feels like himself again. He is saying goodbye to the self everyone wanted him to be. and hello to the self he is and who he will be. |

holy crapoli im not even italian, and i have to say this about this particular song i feel this song relates to the concept of make yourself its what YOU make of yourself that will determine who you are So the "look alive" concept is that you shouldn't just sit around and wait for life to pass you by, make the most of it. Kinda like the concept of warning too Incubus keeps getting better and better, i hope they do this for the rest of their lives! |

i cant believe there isnt more comments on this song! one of my most favorite songs ever just cuz of the meaning okay heres how i interpret it.... stating that he cant get a break hence "everything i get is already broken" etc. the "jiggle the handle, wiggle the key" is opening the door to new life, or futures "my whole world is held together with duct tape all seems fine but deep inside i'm gasping for air the odds are watching me for any mistake that i make it takes alot to give a damn while fronting like you don't even care" stating that his world is always falling apart and being put back together, everyone is watching, waiting for him to break down, to fail, but he cant, he has to be strong "rock my hoopdie pushing off into the sunset failure on my radio and into the air pass the exit sign and we'll be out of new jersey leave this mess behind and always carry a spare" stating that everyone expects him to fail, but he wont, hes almost there, but if this doesnt work he always has another plan (leave this mess behind and always carry a spare) thats how i see it....anyone else? :) |

ever think "miami" as my amy? like a girlfriend or something? just throwing it out there.... i think of the "wedding bells" verse as stating that he will never be able to fall in love and he will never know the feeling i think of this song as a definition of himself i had a shady past, it sucked, but look at me now. we all have secrets that we have "silenced" and kept to ourselves, and i wont ever love again, but im happy by myself, being independent and miami could be a sense of paradise and living life to the fullest..... thats how i interpret it :) |

oil & water is a great concept to how things wont work out or just simply cant. if youve ever seriously mixed the two you could see why.... but one thing that i thought maybe someone else could elaborate for me more on is the words "oil & water" maybe it means that perhaps she is oil and he is water or vice versa? Meaning that one is dirty and the other one is pure? Maybe one person has more "experience" than the other when it comes to this? IDK im just making suggestions :) |

this song is my fav on the album and for those of you that dont like this new incubus album can seriously blow me... but back to what this song means! to me anyway i find it kinda confusing, seems like at first he wants something or its perhaps the start of something, maybe that they both stated they could make this relationship work out even though he is going away but then he talks about using the coldest of weapons; confidence which to me means "living well." In other words im over it type of thing, so maybe then it didnt work out. then maybe she comes back to him, or they are considering getting back together? IDK sometimes i wish brandon would just say what some songs mean |
