sweetadeline's right about the npr interview, but i do like aslard's description of shiva and the whole creative destruction thing. he wrote it after the whole oscars experience where he was starting to shun fame and all the attention, even though his creativity brought him to that point. |

i get the whole "guy gets dumped, feels sorry about himself, contemplates suicide" but i think its more about moving on and getting over it. i like the line "its the first day of my second life/take my name off of the lease/you can even keep the name it never suited me" |

i agree with feversetmirrors about "ordinary people" where timothy hutton won an oscar for his character "conrad jarrett" a suicidal teen that wears hound tooths coats and describes his method of choice as double edged super blue (a brand of razor blade commonly associated with slitting wrists). "vertically letting the life from you" slicing your veins vertically makes it harder to stop the bleeding, and typically shows the person is serious and not just trying to get attention. |
