Musically this album is my favorite of theirs without a doubt. Hopefully he can adjust with the new vocals, I didnt like the screaming, but I also dont like the whining. There is no where for this band to go, but up. I agree with whoever said they deserve to be recognised as the best modern metal band because without a doubt they are. They harmonize their guitars like no one does anymore, they are a great mix of Metallica/Maiden with a more modern sound. |

I think this album really signifies a turning point in Avenged Sevenfold's career and this is a good song to show that. Going from Waking the Fallen which had some pretty good composition but too much screaming to this is fantastic. They've really started to actually sing and the composition of the songs is something I havent heard since Pink Floyd maybe(stretch to compare the two I know) and the guitar is superb. |

Well the first part about the two soldiers on different sides of the war is about General Hancock and Gen(I think he was a general) Armistead, they were friends before the war and Armistead was quoted as saying "If I ever fight against you may God strike me dead." The second part is about Colonel Chamberlain's miraculous holding of Little Round Top(the unions flank.) Like Skeezix said, he was running out of ammo, but not only did they hold the line, they swept down the hill in a counterattack and crushed the rebs. Truly amazing probably my favorite story from the war. |

a_fake_plastic_tree: Thats neat, I guess I'm going to hell, something I dont believe in.
NOW Megadeth is better than Metallica but in the 80's Metallica had Megadeth beat easily, I dont care who could play their instruments better, Metallica had Cliff Burton who influenced their music classically, Megadeth had no such influence. |

I would say it is a suicide note. Its fairly well known that Mustaine was suicidal in certain parts of his life and if you read the lyrics it becomes fairly obvious knowing those things about Dave. |

And Maiden_666 Its my opinion that this song is called Hallowed Be Thy Name because its like a mockery of God. Almost sarcasm, you know like "I'm about to die...wtf God?" I cant explain it any better than that. |

Bassplayereadg I hear you for the most part. The lyrics are absolutely fantastic, thats what I love about Iron Maiden, BUT I disagree that Cradle of Filth captures the mood better. Bruce Dickenson will go down, in my mind, as the greatest metal vocalist ever and the way he does this song is absolutely perfect, his voice just soars above the rest of the instruments. |

Metallica is my favorite band, and to whoever said Metallica's version is better doesnt know what he's talking about. Skynyrd wrote it and they do it perfectly, love it. Rock on Lynyrd Skynyrd. |

This song is alright, its eclipsed by Chapter Four though. The riff is pretty good, you guys should check out Metallica if you like this kind of music, and Pantera. Someone mentioned this song is about love, yeah I think that too, but I think its more than that, its hinting at something different but I cant think of it. |

I disagree. It mentions priests, cells, hanging. Jesus was crucified, not hanged. I also dont think it was about the Salem witch trials because witches were burned not hanged(unless I'm mistaken.). Anyways, great song and I cant beleive people prefer Cradle of Filth to Iron Maiden. Bruce is just plain one of the best vocalists ever. Cradle of Filth is scratchy and just screams, sure its hard to do, but its not amazingly awesome sounding like Bruce. |

Haha, Diseased I thought you were talking about me in that first paragraph until I saw "Hey Sucrose". "Kiddy Rock" is right Frozen. MTV is the bane of my existance, it is there to ostracize free thinkers from the "cool" people(mtv being the one who dictates who is cool) its like a disease. Eh, whatever, I dont want to hang around brainwashable idiots anyways. |

This whole thing is a bunch of bullshit. I've been with Diseased from the start(this is my first time posting though). Metallica is not anti-christian or evil. Rock will not die. MTV is polluting teenagers minds. Creed sucks. End of story. Alot of you Metallica fans on here are giving us a bad rap, horrible grammer and punctuation, just perpetuating a myth that Metallica fans are idiots. I'm suprized that this song has more comments than the true classics: Master of Puppets, Fade To Black, One, Ride the Lightning...etc. |

This is definately about suicide. But to WiseWiz, man, no way does this knock Fade to Black out of the park. Fade to Black is probably one of the best songs ever written. Let alone about suicide. I see nothing ever beating it considering the bands out there nowadays. Dont get me wrong this is a good song and A7X is really good, but better than Fade to Black? No freakin' way. |

Very deep TheExile. This is the only song that has ever made me cry and its an instrumental, I guess that just shows how much Metallica cared about Cliff and how talented of musicians they really are. Fuck all non-Metallica fans, this song proves their genius. |
