This is about people's blind pride of everything American. Some people who just follow and have no opinion except what Bush tells them and basically are nationalists and don't think that other countries are the same class as Americans, and how the governent twists the facts so that it seems like they are doing a better job with foreign affairs than they really are. The line "so pride yourself on what you are" is being sarcastic towards these people. |

i heard the song a million times before i heard the title, and immediatly when i heard it this is what i thought... It's like a picture, and theres a green part and then there's the rest of the picture, and because of what is surrounding it in other colors the green really sticks out and seems to be more bold and vibrant than it would be on its own. you know what? this song is kind of judgmental. I guess they're trying to encourage people to be themselves, but they make it seem as if all the girls in the world feel the pressure to be thin and pretty and everybody be one type, but thats not the way it is. after everyone matures they dont feel the pressure anymore. Someone might stereotype me as weight obsessed, but im not doing any of that for other people's opinion. Growing up I was chubby as fuck and harldy realized it, but suddenly i lost the weight and its just so much more comfortable this way! And im not talking about the way people treat you or something. Comfortable as in you can do supermans on a swing without feeling like your going to puke (you know, where you put your stomach on the swing and put your arms out? FUN! hah) and being able to hold your knees to your chest no problem and being able to fit in a car with 5 friends sharing the backseat without feeling like your taking up too much space. And when I do all my hair and makeup, I do it to feel pretty, not look pretty. Some girls should know what I mean... |

ok. this is true. i dont know how i can possibly convince you guys over the internet that im being honest, but hoplefully you'll beleive me...
This song totally fucked with my subconscious mind. Seriously. When I first heard it I was half asleep and I began a lucid dream (you know, where its not really dreaming but your not really awake.. its the prelude to that falling feeling that jerks you awake, which is caused by certain parts of your mind falling asleep before others) and the dream was about falling down the stairs. Naturally, I was startled awake by that falling feeling.. Then, the next day, I heeard it again and saw the video and was heading upstairs afterword and I fell backwards down the stairs. Sprained my shoulder and seriously bruised my tailbone and got bumped up a whole lot. Because of this song. You know how? Here's a little psychology lesson.
Sometimes when the subconcious wants something, the conscious mind doesnt know about it. The subconcious may get what it wants, without the conscious even realizing it. for example: A suicidal person who doesnt know she is suicidal may be crossing the street when she pauses, and with a car coming at her she finds herself unable to move to save herself, therefore risking her life and maybe causing death. Another example is a person who feels they need more attention from loved ones may be at the top of a staircase and suddenly find themsleves lightheaded and unbalanced, causing them to fall backward to almost certain injury.
But, as terrible this attention-seeking may seem, my falling down the stairs made me realize that something is missing in my life at the moment. So even though I don't like Simple Plan and never really thought they could help somebody, in a fucking retarded way they helped me.

I don't like simple plan a whole lot, but i know that they are fun to see live because they put on a good show. i kind of dont like how many bands are going political all the sudden. politics suck ass and im just sick of hearing about it, you know? Television, newspapers, protests... Sure, it's all for a purpose, and its great for people to stand for what they beleive in, but its all the same, isnt it? This song has no political purpose. It's just saying that they don't like Bush. It's not saying what they wish would have happened instead of the war, or what they want in the future, its just saying that they hate it. So fuck this song, it has no purpose except giving them a reason to be able to say, "Yeah, we're a political band." |
