i think theres a studio version of Vacant by Tapeworm (the guys who wrote it). they did so many covers on this album because it was a 'collection of songs about peace, love and war' or something similar, according to maynard.
anyways, the song: holy shit this is so good. at first i thought it was about him talking to himself, and not being happy with who he is. but then i was reminded about what the rest of the album is about, and so it seems to fit the anit-bush idea (i think this WAS written while bush was in office, the Tapeworm project was happening around 2002 i think?)
and a thought on the line 'my perfect enemy', could be someone who knows he very well (to fit with that other persons theory of a broken relationship/friendship). b/c they know them so well, theyre the perfect enemy b/c they know how they work. this also fits with my idea of it being about hating himself

i'm with some of the others here. he gets up and tries to fit in. he tried to "live", but live in the sense of how a lot of the rest of society is living - corruptly. or something like that |

this is my interpretation. i'm sure the first verse is a lot deeper than i can think of for the moment though.. anyhoo
he met this guy who had been wrongfully imprisoned, but he was okay with it. actually this just came to me: maybe he's 'locked away' inside his own head. he's been put away for 'things he hasnt done' - he didn't just go crazy, people have hurt him and he's become depressed or insane.
i think the chorus is talking about if you accept yourself, nothing will get you down. the "freefall" is the feeling of slipping into depression further
the 2nd verse is talking about the daughter of this man. he had become depressed, took his own life, and she swore she wouldn't end up doing the same thing as him, but she did. and then her son has also become affected because she committed suicide and now he is depressed/insane.
i'm not sure how the final verse fits with the rest of lyrics...maybe he's saying he is that boy. he's grown up and he's ended up like his mother and her father, he hates himself ("fought him in the street") and killed himself as though he was killing someone else, because he didn't accept himself as part of himself.....ohh man im getting confusing now
thats my idea anyway. the message may be that suicide can affect a lot of people in a chain reaction, and you should not get depressed because you hate who you are, but accept yourself instead |

i think this is about a dude who follows all sorts of different trends. "he used to live with a knife in the wall". ..i dunno a goth maybe, and then "blonde to the bone" he's turned surfy. and then "tried to pretend it was all just a phase". eventually the people hes living with get sick of him and kick him out |

i reckon the first verse is about people happily singing because its fun, and the 2nd verse is about crappy pop stars. its all about the music man |

stuck in a crappy place, wanting to get away but you cant. i think maybe the chorus is about how secretly the person doesnt want to leave. "you never get ready cause theres no time today" .. just keeps putting off leaving and stays, but they actually dont want to leave |

| Led Zeppelin – Four Sticks Lyrics

This is what I read from an interview with Jimmy Page (from a reliable guitar mag): Bonham used 4 sticks on this because they had seen The Who play and ...aghh...memory is failing.. but Bonzo wanted to show up the Who drummer and so when they went to record the song he grabbed 4 sticks and played his heart out |
