I found this song popping into my head today even though I hadn't heard it today... It gives me a very good feeling.. The idea of being so happy you could die... To me it is the feeling of like if I died, I could find comfort in remembering how much love and happiness I'm feeling right now... A feeling that comes every so often.. I agree with the idea that it could be about drunkenness, but also about a crush on someone (in the singer's case a girl)... Don't you sometimes think about the happiest moments of your life, that when you died you could find peace and joy if you could live in those moments forever? |

I'm still deciphering this song, but to me it's about deciding to leave a relationship after another fight. The narrator feels at the end of her rope, that they are trying to change what can't be changed about each other and their relationship (trying to change this mold). There is no feeling of love or communication (coldness, no purpose), and the narrator has the realization that the endeavor is fruitless (in vain). She first feels her first thoughts after deciding to end the relationship, (picking up a broken key - something that used to be able to unlock a heart but no longer does) and describes feeling upset and hurt (deciding to not love anyone or let anyone love her). She decides to wait until morning to leave, before her lover gets up (before opened eyes). She describes the moment, realizing what is about to happen in a few hours, that no one is crying because they have not yet realized the full implications of the impending breakup. |
