| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Tesla Girls Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Tesla was a genius. As are OMD. This song is all about women who think...who have something upstairs besides two breasts. It really is a great tribute to thinking women. I love Tesla Girls. Also, I think there's a hidden code in here that in fact is in favor of women who can decipher code. English just isn't English...nor any language is. English as a Second Language is what this song is about. Take for instance the line when they walk they don't touch the ground. It's all soulful to these girls. These guys are about a millennium ahead of their time on our current course for this planet. |

| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Telegraph Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song to me is about the brainwashing of the planet Earth. People use words to brainwash when in fact the words could be something totally different the next day. Hence the written in sand. It's most obvious in Government-Mind Control and the Media although others use it as well to rally a cause, Hitler for one. The real blinking lights are the eyes...the telegraphs. Seeing is believing but is it? This song points out the fact that it isn't it. Just because you read or hear something doesn't make it the truth...including an all powerful God. You'll notice there are 3 lights in the video as you and everyone else has 3 as well. The telepathic eye, the one not seen is what this video is all about. You don't need words nor writing and truly not logos nor allegiance to a flag. All you need is equality. The symbology of three groups of three descending is quite telling to numerologists which it is obvious OMD has a higher level of understanding of. Paul himself has the mark of the lightbringer...666 June 24, 1959. Of course...time doesn't exist but it's interesting he falls under the codes with that number. He has some real interesting numbers in fact but that's a different story and far too complex for this website. This song is all about telepathy, letting music and actions speak and higher planes of existence. |

Definitely, it's about aliens. That is exactly what I was thinking when I listen to this song...sure I'm high as fuck at the time, most often... The "I feel good all over" is just the release...the opposite of how aliens are portrayed in this world of ours. It's called good song writing. It really was quite clear...the beeping sound at 2:30 just screams space...and variations of it...are carried throughout the second half of the song... Glad to see I was right on this one... Weed and good song-writing for the win! |

| When I feel depressed this is the song I play. Pretty straightforward(so I hope that is the only reason people aren't posting about this song) but absolutely inspirational and a spirit lifter. Never give in. Never give in. Never give in. | |
| The Cure – Faith Lyrics | 21 years ago |

The whole Faith album doesn't seem to be getting much respect with number of posts. Oh well. Faith the song is great. However I don't think the song wants us to believe it is a good thing to have. With all the shitty things that happen in the world and this song touches on some of them, I feel Robert is singing to say that we've all failed. It's his "fuck you world" song. "No one lifts their eyes, no one lifts their hands..." to fix these problems. We could have "perfection" but no one even dares to try...people just don't care...all they offer are "empty words" as they have become complacent in life as they've found "faith." Why try to make anything better when you have Faith on your side? That's the kicker... So then what is Robert to do? Well this is where rainydayboy's comments come in...you gotta have Faith to keep on going through this bleak world. And that's what Robert does...not because it is what he wants or even will make him happy. But because the only other option is suicide..."Catch me if I fall, I'm losing hold, Can't just carry on this way." He wants to carry on...even if it means giving up his idealism. The song takes the grey feeling the album has...that there is beauty in bad things but that bad things are still bad. Silver lining in the black cloud but not good enough...at least not to me and I don't think to Robert either. |

| The Cure – The Funeral Party Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Amazing how such a simple song can sound so good. I feel this song is about a child whose parents have died and all he has left is worriness and dark future for no one is there to love him...no dreams of things being good...his parents are gone at his young age and they meant everything to him. But through it all he can see his parents acting out their love for each other as ghostly figures dancing on air though their bodies lie deep in the ground. |

| The Cure – The Last Day of Summer Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song could be about a billion different things ending but I think I have 2 good ideas One, Robert might have been writing about not having anything more to write/sing about and that everything he writes about now is just a lie because it doesn't come easy to him anymore. Two, Or I'm sure most of us will interpret it into a relationship type setting...I can see how the lyrics work that someone asked someone else out or were going out and that person has been rejected. I really don't think the song is about "borrowed time" and knowing it is about to end. I think the song is more of a surprise, "this isn't how it's supposed to be" type song. Any day of summer is never cold...but this one is. It's a shock...you can hear the pain in his voice and the verses. |

| The Cure – A Thousand Hours Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think the song is more about trying to be more than who you are. "A thousand wasted hours a day" to me represents putting your heart into something or someone 24/7...but in the end that isn't who you really are. He recognizes that the changes he made haven't solved his problems of loneliness. All it has given him is a one second thrill of being loved. But he realized that devoting his entire life at working to be someone different is just a waste. If he stays his original self, he is lonely but if he devotes his life to change, he is still lonely(for all but one second) and turning his back on himself. The wolf just wants to be understood for who he really is and in the end decides not to continue to conform. Great song. | |
| The Cure – Push Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I have a completely different take on this song. I think it is about a girl pushing someone away from having sex with her. It is however difficult to tell if anything happens as it tends to be a lot of contradicting messages which leads me to believe that some of it is just dreaming(the end of the song especially points this out). The intro verse pretty much says don't let him stay(the man and his unit)...there sort of is a sarcastic tone to it all by say NO NO NO! Like if it would be such a crime for "him" to stay. The 2nd verse from the the perespective of the man's genitals(the mouth) is pretty much fantasy..the secret you seems to be the unseen area. The 3rd verse starts up with more fantasy imagining that she'd be scared and trying to hide the fear away with a smile. But then when the act comes forth strawberry's and cream(blood and cum) are all over the walls. The 4th verse comes back full circle to reality. Nothing took place because it is "the same clean room, the same clean bed" And then he is pretty much giving up because he can't hold out forever. I could be way off but that's how I always viewed the song. |

| The Cure – The Loudest Sound Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is obviously about a child whose parents don't love each other anymore. The way Smith sings it leads the listener to show that he is the true victim. The guitar is perfect for this song, very repetitive(habitual) and yet very soothing(comfortbale). It all gels too well. We're not worthy. | |
| The Cure – To the Sky Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I guess the song is about someone who is dead but is happy about since it "a perfect morning...floating in a golden haze" and his spirit is floating up to heaven and on his way there he checks in one last time with the person he loved as a child...? Really bizarre song but the melody is catchy as hell. | |
| Erasure – Am I Right? Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song is about someone who's lover is gone. Somethings in the song make me believe his lover has died, others make me believe the lover just left him. For instance, "rain comes rushing down to resolve your love for this man" seems to me sybolizes someone cryin from above letting them know they still love them. The "chill wind" in the air also goes with this. As if a ghostly figure is with the person still on earth. The who was here? or am I just dreaming part? Just goes to show someone is missing that he never expected back but now believes is around(somehow). The part about the cathedral adds to the fact that his lover is gone(either way) but it could also have a double meaning since gays aren't allowed to married, at least in the UK where Andy Bell is. I tend to believe his lover has died. The whole thing with the rain pretty much confirms that I think. Great song. |
