Randy and Cliff died from a very different cause than Darrell.. Dime was just murdered, straight up. Randy, well.. planes aren't to be landed on top of tour busses. Cliff died in a bus accident. John Lennon is more to compare Dime's death too, if you must do such a thing. Actually, John died the SAME day 24 years(24 I think) earlier. |

| Slipknot – Pulse of the Maggots Lyrics

Joey Jordison is THE modern drummer god. If you ask me, he's the BEST sinse early Lars Ulrich shit, and that says quite a bit. Mick is one hell of a guitarist, and solos like this one doesn't fucking cut it. Let him go apeshit on a song and he'll gain the respect of all the guitarists in the community. He has my respect, but I know he's capable of so much more better things. Slipknot boggs him down IMO.
Vol. 3 was a fuckup, if you ask me. Rick R. on production, how could you fuck it up? This is the man behind Slayer, for Christ's sake! I was extremely disappointed. Slipknot are now officially tools of the machine. They are making money and doing damn good at it. I mean, prior to this CD, how many times would you see a Slipknot video on top 10 rock countdowns on ANY music channel? Never. How about Duality? Pulse of the Maggots? Vermillion(sp?)? They're everywhere, the the record sales are proving it. Sellouts, if there ever were any.
Why can't they put out another self-titled album with that same emotion? Give us another (sic), goddamnit! I'm personally tired of this record. I'm tired of trying to defend Mick and Jim and Joey as great musicians(because they are such) stuck in shitty bands. Break away and do something worth while. I'm sure that fresh, hot, teenage ass really feels and tastes quite wonderfully, but is it worth half of your fans? Alot of Slipknot fans gave up on them after Iowa, and even more buried them 6 feet under with Vol. 3. Slipknot have become the Nu-Metal stereotype, and if you ask me, that's nothing to be proud of.
Mabye real metal will come back some day, and I'd love to see Joey and Mick and Jim somewhat involved in it. |

| Saliva – Survival Of The Sickest Lyrics

The other albums were tools of the machine. All the musicians are obvious metal heads, but how many amazing guitar solos were in the previous albums? None memorable. How many times did you hear "Hero" on the radio? That song, I forgot the name, "I love you, I hate you, I can't live without you?" How about the one "Your Disease," I think? Radio hits, huge successes.
Mabye Gainesville's a whole different city, but this record gets basicly NO airplay. It did when it first came out, but that's it. I'm all for good music, but with the current trends, it never gets played. How many Pantera singles do you hear on the radio? Like I said, Gainesville might be different, but it's always none here. Zakk Wylde? None. Shadows Fall? None. Solo Jerry Cantrell(who, FYI, is about to pump a new one out)? None.
I'm not one of those people who think cause I dig bands that are unpopular i'm mysterious or unique. The shit I dig just NEVER gets MTV or Radio airplay. Saliva, to me, seem to have pissed on their poppier side and made music with feeling. The new record has an aggression, that arguibly(though most agree with me) all the old ones lacked. It seems like they MIGHT not care about the money and all those hot pieces of ass after all. Probably not, but atleast they have me fooled. |

Some people are just assholes. Music is nothing to argue about. I think once you get to a certain point, you are good. I will say that IMHO Stevie Ray, Randy Rhodes, EVH, Dimebag Darrell, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix.. all the musicians out there. They're all great in their own respect. I will pay my debts to SRV and say that he single-handedly, along with Zakk Wylde, showed me Pentatonics can have so much soul. Zakk and SRV borrowed alot of their pentatonic chops from Hendrix, and Hendrix from Blues players before him. It's all a big cycle. We borrow from our heros and twist their licks into our own. Nothing to bicker about.
Cheers, people. Drink a few and mellow out. Send a few shots to Dimebag. I know he'd do the same for you.
Great song, Pride & Joy though. Simple and effective. Very effective. RIP SRV.. All my fallen brothers. |

Dude, this song is actually Ozzy. His last few albums(to take the words out of Zakk's mouth) were written by cheese-dick wannabe motherfucking Offspring type bullshit. One night Zakk was like 'hey ozz, check it out, I came up with this melody.' and they came up with the lyrics. Period. It's about cocaine too. It's originally on No Rest for the Wicked, retards. One of the first songs Zakk wrote with Ozz. This song isn't typical Ozzy, but then again, nothing has been sinse he left Sabbath. Randy was awesome, Zakk's my savior, but long live Sabbath.

WOW, I just read all these posts, lol.. you're all nutters. Have any of you personally done LSD/Acid/Blotters/Microdots/Trips/Lysergic Acid/whateverthefuckyouwanttocallit? LSD, while intoxicated on such, IS a fucking dream. Damn, i'd explain what I mean, but grow a pair and down 10 blotter hits. You'll know EXACTLY what I mean. This song, along with countless others, are indeed drug induced.
Yes, it's true Hendrix took 18x the amount of sleeping pills. I've taken sleeping meds 10 times recreationally[recreationally=enough to get high], spaced out a month apart, and I already have the sickest of all tolerances of all. It takes upwards of 60 hits of Benadryl/Unisom/Any dramamine to get me slightly buzzed. For this reason, I no longer take diphenhydramamine recreatioanlly anymore. So, 18x amount of sleeping meds on hendrix would easily be 2x the reccomended amount for a regular non-user.
Drugs DO increase your creativity. Physically, they don't make you a better player, but they inspire riffs all sick and insane. Psychedelics/Cannabis are particularly ungodly at this inspiration madness power. |

| Modest Mouse – Ocean Breathes Salty Lyrics

|
'Sell outs! Sell outs! Modest Mouse are nothing but sell outs! couldn't have happened to a better band, i hope they make lots of money.'
Every band who are still considered 'active' at the time of their height sold out. If Black Sabbath had a legion of fans in '68 as they do right now, on the rats-ass end of 2004, do you think they would have sounded like they did? No. They would not have. They had nothing to lose and everyone to gain, so they did it their way. If they had a considerable amount of fans to lose, they would have conformed to that time's popular music. They all did.
Hell, good example: Nirvana. Check out Bleach. Some of the sludgiest non-metal riffs ever written. Fast forward to Nevermind. A comercial success! Millions talk, child. Modest Mouse done what I would have done..
Though, admittedly, I liked Modest Mouse MUCH MUCH more when it wasn't cool to like them. |

| Black Label Society – Counterfeit God Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Uhm, no. First off, studio wise, BLS isn't really a 'band.' Zakk plays all the instruments, subtract a few cameos, except drums. Which, as of late, has been handled by Craig Nunemacher. Counterfiet god is a song about people using religions as a means of lying and control. Example, preachers touring the country wanting your money. You go to their services, they say for a certain fee, they'll heal you. "The crippled walk and sick feel fine"
It's about 'men of god' lying and cheating for means of money, among other things. Falls hand-in-hand with Miracle Man, which Zakk co-wrote with Ozzy. Zakk's not trying to play god with this song. He's actually downplaying people who play god. |

I love every minute of Zakk i've ever seen live, but all the studio records beyond STD(IMHO) are so rushed it's pathetic. Live, the tunes crush amazing amounts of balls. But studio wise, Zakk needs to give it a break and not rush it so much. You all are wrong. Zakk has said that this song was about a buddy of his who is severely depressed. He's given up on all forms of life, he's just living and nothing more. He doesn't care..
So empty, just a shell of a man
Stillborn, this I understand
The feelings I once felt are now dead and gone
Pretty obvious now, eh? I worshop Zakk and all things Zakk. Trust me, that's exactly what this song is about. |

Pantera is no more. Most Damageplan fans, deep down, wish it were Pantera. Hell, read some interviews with Dime(particularly the one in the GW mag, with him and Zakk on the cover), and it's pretty obvious he wishes it were still Pantera. Walk's a boss song. Some theories on CFH, the actual song, are like.. how Phil 'cleaned up' Pantera.. read the lyrics and think about that one. I read it originally on Panterachat.com. First serious riff I learned. That or Iron Man, been too long. |
