hey, thats me. I'm 13. My parents are trying to raise me religiously, I'm agnostic. But I'm a hell of a lot smarter than most of the people who post here, and I know it. |

Why is that so cute and sad at the same time? I'm disgustingly in love with Elliott. |

*significance, and he had constant, painful flashbacks. This song is beautiful, but Elliott was such a tortured, conflicted soul. It amazes me how his pain could turn into a beautiful sorrow. |

I'm sorry, I stand corrected. I recently learned that Elliott was abused, and this song has all the more significant. Thanks for the correction, though. And yes, he had painfully constant flashbacks during the last part of his life... |

I love the lyrics of this song, even more than the song itself. Anyway, it's pretty clear it's about a man whose wife has left him...feel free to continue your analysis |

King's Crossing is a safe injection site in Sydney, Australia. I'm not sure if Elliott knew this, or had been there, but it makes a whole lot of sense. |

I agree with the pain/abuse theme. Not sure if it's about childhood abuse though, because Elliott was distant with his mother, but I don't *think* his stepfather abused him. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I absolutely love the guitar, most especially at the end of this song. |

As much as I fucking adore Ben Gibbard with my entire heart, I feel like I'm relating to him in a different-gendered type of way. He has the undoubtedly-difficult position of trying to win this girl over, and the song is beautiful. For me, I've been triyng to win the guys over, but I seem to always fail. All the girls at my crush's school are much thinner, larger-breasted, prettier, more graceful...and I just don't measure up.
I still love this song. I just feel like hugging Ben, whenever I listen to these lyrics...I love him.... |

| Elliott Smith – Some Song (Help Me Kill My Time) Lyrics

"Yes. Every Elliott Smith song is actually about drugs"
Oh, definitely. This crackhead was nothing but a depressed amateur who wrote little ditties about the joy of drugs with his dictionary.
Ugh, I know how you feel. I'm so sick of seeing songs like "Between the Bars" and hearing "This one MUST be about drugs. Maybe the bars symbolise ciggarettes?!?"
Either way, this song is absolutely beautiful. The Dallas thing is about his mom, I'm pretty sure.
This song deserves a title anyway. |

| Elliott Smith – Waterloo Sunset (The Kinks cover) Lyrics

I normally despise cover songs. Elliott was the only man I've ever heard sing that could take a great song and make it beautiful. His voice is just so haunting and he does so much with the song. This song gives me chills, the mood and resonating lonliness sinks deep, and the relationship still seems reassuring.
I love Elliott Smith. |
