I think this song is just a "dickish" way of saying he can't communicate in his own way. "we could continue on, with such nonsense to fill the days ..and we wont speak, of ugly things" I think this is just referring to the bullshitting people give eachother all day. Sometimes it's seems wrong to say what you mean, because nobody else is. And how honesty and emotion are so looked down upon. This is just what it means to me... |

I was kind of dissapointed to see that not many of you posted what this song meant to you beside's "fucking and drugs". Which I pretty much agree with but to me, this song goes waaay farther than that. I havent listened to Incubus in a long time and I decided to download stellar for good memories and as I listened, it started to remind me of tripping on mushrooms or ecstasy. This song reaches into so many different emotions at the same time. It's alot like tripping because your mind winds paths of thoughts that branch out and could go on forever. I could go on and on about this so I'll just break the song up and tell you what it means to me. "Meet me in outerspace We could spend the night, watch the earth come up I've grown tired of that place, wont you come with me We could start again " - This reminds me of the feeling you get when you've met someone who seems extremely special and you just want to break away from your current lifestyle and start a new life with them. "we could watch the earth come up"...this makes me think that brandon and whoever he is talking about share an extremely strong connection and understand eachother extremely well...They're almost tripping, and looking at the world at another angle but most importantly, theyre seeing it and understanding it together. "Meet me in outerspace I will hold you close, If your afraid of heights " -again, this seems like they are exploring another state of reality together and they are staying close so they can experience it with eachother, "I need you to see this place, It might be the only way That I can show you how, it feels to be inside of you " -Many people said this is only about sex. Sex does have something to do with it but its more. This place he is talking of is something that is probably more significant to his view on life and death. I dont know what his view on it is, but it says to me that this "place" in more a conciousness and connection of eachothers energies that not many people can experience. "To be inside of you..." is more of a complete spiritual bonding and understanding. It's complete bliss. Theyre coming out of theyre egos and even bodies for that matter and are just completely honest and connected. "You are stellar How do you it, make me feel like I do How do you do it, its better than I ever knew " -This is what this person does to him... Everything they experienced could have been done without the use of drugs completey. They are eachothers drug. If you've taken ecstasy you probably know what that feels like. It's complete love for everything. If a person is that special they can make you feel that same feeling. It's also about realizing that someone can make you feel that way for the first time and wanting to go further into the trip. So thats my crazy little theory on it...Again this is just what it means to me. It's always good to relate in your own way...Although I hope it might make things clear for anyone who likes to see it that way. |
