i too have reason to believe this is about aids KEEP IN MIND THAT ALTHOUGH THE DISEASE WAS NOT KNOWN UNTILL THE 80'S THE DISEASE STILL EXISTED. in the prolouge, quite simply he cant believe hes done something wrong. and that something becomes introduced in the piano segment. in the first stanza of the piano segment, the narrator talks about how he killed a man. freddie may have had sex with someone (possibly a man) and he's saying that practically killed his lover, thanks to the sickness that would later be known as aids. throughout the entire song, the narrator is trying to see if the world can forgive him, but the world and his mother, both homophobic and intolerant of murderers, shun him and hate him. the second stanza in the piano segment talks about how something Sending shivers down his spine, body's aching all the time. it could be his guilt, or it could be symptoms of this sickness that has sealed the fate of both him and his lover. now because of this, he not only wants to keep himself alive, he also regrets it so much he wishes he was never alive in the first place. mixed emotions. the first guitar solo is describing his emotions through guitar. the opera segment, as we all know, is some sort of trial. the trial can be looked at in two ways. either 1: the entire Judicial system is mocking him, including his mother, then the narrator simply lashes out against everyone before his demise (heavy metal guitar solo) or: 2: the narrator is simply questioning himself and his existance, like "The Trial" in Pink Floyd's The Wall. the phrase "anyway the wind blows" is a bit of a mixed bag. he doesnt matter what happens to him or how his adversaries treat him, and yet, he fears for his life. the man simply went mad. |
