| Modest Mouse – Bankrupt on Selling Lyrics | 20 years ago |

" well all the apostles-they're sitting in swings saying "i'd sell off my savior for a set of new rings and some sandles with the style of straps that cling best to the era" " I saw this happen. At my grandmother's church they often have plays derived from the bible, and there were three men in biblical robes sitting on swings in the playground outide the church smoking and talking. I dunno what they were saying, but it had quite an uncanny likeness to the song. ...literal, I know, but thats what it means to me. |

I always thought that the line "God I sure hope you are dead" was being adressed to god, not used as an intensifier, thus making this more of a 'whats wrong with god that the world is so screwed up' song. But then again, I've got no idea what I'm talking about. In any case its a great song. |

| I think maybe this song is about someone who knows the meaning of life (or THINKS they know) but Im not really sure. I like it though. It reminds me of The Lion King... | |
