hah, you guys are weird. or maybe it's just Richard Patrick that's weird... I don't know. but this is a really, really, really really really pretty song. it still leaves me completely dizzy, every single time I hear it. and I have heard it lots. LOTS. this is my absolute most favoritest song ever. I'm not sure what the first verse means, but I always envision this... newness. "Awake on my airplane"... maybe he just woke up? "My skin is bare"... like a newborn. maybe he's seeing everything new, like how a newborn sees the world. I don't know what "My skin is theirs" is supposed to mean. who is he referring to? the chorus... I think it's like he wants to remember this feeling, and he knows he won't. I always kinda understood the "ah, hey, dad, whaddaya think about your son now...?" part to be, like... directed at the greater being, y'know? like... like he was talking to God. "Even with everything you've let happen to me, all the burdens you've made me carry, everything you've taken.... what do you think about me now?" ....okay, I think I just got something, where the second verse is concerned. "I don't believe in, I don't believe in your Sanctity, your privacy. I don't believe in, I don't believe in Sanctity; a hypocrisy." again relating to the God thing I was talking about. I don't believe in your sanctity, I know you're not perfect. "a hypocrisy"... well, personally, that's how I view the whole idea of Christianity. actually, sorry, I didn't mean to turn this into a religious thing... this is just what I think. "Could everyone agree that no one should be left alone?" well, this one's obvious, but in the second part... who's the "they" he's talking about? maybe it's the same "their" from the first verse. *shrugs* maybe I'm just stupid. or maybe I'm just a bored 16-year-old girl with nothing to do but analyze the shit out of songs by a band nobody seems to like. hm. although I find this song weirdly calming, it's also really sad.... tis a very blue song. it's like... pure sky and pure clouds. 's beautiful. |

I was going to say... nah, I'll say it anyways. to the idiot who put up the lyrics to this song: YOU ALMOST FUCKING RUINED MY FAVORITE SONG!!! *snarl* almost, but not quite, as I have the booklet. ehehe... this song is about sex!!! it is sooooooo obvious. but do you know what??? it is still the best song I have ever ever heard. the first time I heard it I just kind of sat there in a stupor until I had the sense to get up and play it again. I have no idea what this song means but it is absofuckinglutely my most favorite song EVER!!!!! I love Jimmy Eat World so much, and I think "clarity" is the most perfect album ever created by man... but then you must remember that this is Jimmy Eat World we are talking about. they are the COOLEST band EVER!!! you should so go see them in concert! yes, you should. they're actually a lot better live than the media might lead one to suspect. in fact, they were awesome. they played this song. go buy tickets! right now! and go buy "clarity" too!
