The Rolling Stones – Angie Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is like the conversation you have with someone who you do love and you don't want to break up with. But you know that you need to because it just won't work although you would love it to work, it just won't. This song captures how that feeling must be.

I Mother Earth – So Gently We Go Lyrics 20 years ago
Personally, I think this song very heavily deals with more intangible and slightly more spiritual aspects of life. The lyrics are somewhat cryptic, however, at the same time, they make sense on an intuitive level. To me this song deals with the things we don't own upto in life, conciously and to read this song that is steeped in imagry and metaphor you need to be able to read and decipher what is trying to be said.

I don't doubt that some type of drugs were involved in making this song, but there is a poinency to these lyrics.

John Mayer – Clarity Lyrics 21 years ago
As for the ectasy statement, there are so many types of E out there with so many different names that I bet there is one called Clarity.

As for the song, in general this song is about those moments in our lives when we see things clearly and suddenly in focus in terms of everything in our life and our spirituality, etc. We try to hold onto those feelings but they are eventually diluted and disappear but they leave us with a great sense of resilence when it happens.

At least hat's what I got from this song.

Cheers

Matthew Good Band – Indestructible Lyrics 21 years ago
Personally I think all good art is ambiguous in that it can take multiple meaning, any artist worth his weight will recognize this. While I do agree that this song is confusing in that there is not a clear meaning, I do think it's about love and how he will always come back to the one he likes even if they do not know he is around. Although this is one of many possible interpertations.

Regardless it's a very good song.

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 21 years ago
To me this song is all about spirituality. There is a stark contrast drawn between the person who is olbviously a rich woman who thinks there is some sort of material way to gain spirituality. Your stairway lies on the whispering wind is directly a reference to the intangibility of spirituality and it can not be bought. The part after the guitar solo is simply the person who is narrating this tale if you will, walking along the path and the woman still there. Shadows taller than our souls I think relates to most of the narrator's and consequently the lady who wants to buy the stairway's, life being almost over. Basically by the end of the song the passage of time has taught the woman nothing and she will not attain heaven or what is being used to refer to the ultimate spiritual state.

That's my opinion, I could be wrong.

Coldplay – Amsterdam Lyrics 21 years ago
I've listened to this song with a couple of my friends and I think they were touched by this tune as well. Personally, I think there is certain universality to this song. Everyone has been in a spot where they were down and they couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. The imagery in this song: the sickness being tied to a ball and chain that is threatening to take you over the threshold is very powerful and I certainly have been a patch in my life like this.

I think the big question is what set that person loose. Well what it was is referred to as a person; this fits in well with the theme of some of Coldplay’s work. I do think they may be referring to drugs as the savior as the title “Amsterdam” does in a roundabout way suggest. I will end the speculation there as the general theme of this piece is apparent and I think the significance of the lack of a direct reference does entail the savior of this person’s psyche’ could be just about anything.

Overall very relatable, a great and touching tune. Also I love the part where the whole band kicks in, it’s really driving and perfectly suits that portion of the song.
