| Alice in Chains – Angry Chair Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I always thought this was about the death penalty, and a person who's done something when he's younger, but he doesn't get the penalty untill now (it can take years before the jury reach a verdic). But the theory about the whole father thing is interesting. Anyway, here's my thoughts (death penalty view): Sitting on an angry chair Angry walls that steal the air Stomach hurts and I don't care (sitting in the electric chair, waiting to be killed. The walls in the room of the electric chair is often pretty neutral and emotionless (or, it could be red walls, which I know was used alot as well, as the colour of love. The colour red is also known as the 'angry' colour, there for the walls are angry.) His stomach hurts, but he doesn't care - stomachs tend to hurt when you're nervous, but that's not really the biggest worry you have at the moment) What do I see across the way, hey See myself molded in clay, oh (he looks back (the way) and he see himself just ruined by one (or possibly more) dumb/illegal things he's done in the past.) Stares at me, yeah I'm afraid, hey Changing the shape of his face, aw yeah (he's looking back to the moment when the murder happend, and the now-dead-guy is staring at him, and his afraid, because he doesn't really want to kill this person. And then, once he does it (shoots, stabbes, whatever) the now-dead-guy is changing his expression from angst to direct fear.) Candles red I have a pair Shadows dancing everywhere Burning on the angry chair (Not sure what the two first lines means, but the last one is refering to when the chair is turned on, and all the woltage is running through his body, burning him.) Little boy made a mistake, hey Pink cloud has now turned to gray, oh (He did a mistake as a young human being, and he now sees that it was a mistake. Pink clouds are happy, grey ones are sad/dark. His life has changed from being good and cheerful, but now everything is just misery.) All that I want is to play, hey Get on your knees, time to pray, boy (these two lines makes more sense with the father theory, but i'll have a go at them with this theory; he just wants to live, and be happy, so he's starting to pray to the cops to let him be) I don't mind, yeah I don't mind, I-I-I Lost my mind, yeah But I don't mind, I-I-I Can't find it anywhere I don't mind (He doesn't mind anymore, he feels so guilty they might as well finish him off. He did a mistake a long time ago/lost his mind, and now he can't find his sense/a way to get out of this) Corporate prison, we stay, hey I'm a dull boy, work all day, oh So I'm strung out anyway, hey (corporate prison = a prison with zero tolerance unless you're someone extremely important. The people in there aren't people to get out again, so "we" means his fellow prisoners. Dull boy work all day = they often use prisoners from corporate jails/state jails to work around public property and do those things. It's a dull/boring life, and all he does is to work on public things the jail sets him and the other out to do. So 'm strung out anyway = so he's done with everything, he's worn out, he doesn't care that much) Loneliness is not a phase Field of pain is where I graze Serenity is far away (Loneliness is not a phase = when you're a so called loner, it's hard to get out of that stage, because you lock yourself in and you have a HARD time letting others in. Some people call it a phase, but some people are just too damn used to being alone; it's hard to not be. Field of pain is where I graze = there is a comfort in having pain, and when you feel good you don't really have that much control if you're used to being sad and depressed. The world might be more horrible, but you're better off having an emotion to kling to. Serenity is far away = you know you're probably never getting out of prison - outside is serenity and joy, but you still hold on to the little hope that you'll once get out - though deep down you might know it's not going to happend) Saw my reflection and cried, hey So little hope that I died, oh (he sees himself, and what he's become. A jailed negative person, with too little hope that he 'died'. He didn't really live anymore, because every day was the same as always, and he's lost the feeling of being alive.) Feed me your lies, open wide, hey Weight of my heart, not the size, oh (lawyers opening his horizon and giving him hope that should not be there by feeding him their lies about getting him out. His heart is heavy because of all his emotions locked in, but his heart is not 'big' making him cheerful) I don't mind, yeah I don't mind, I-I-I Lost my mind, yeah But I don't mind, I-I-I Can't find it anywhere I don't mind, I-I-I Pink cloud has now turned to gray All that I want is to play Get on your knees time to pray, boy |

| Alice in Chains – Dirt Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Some of you guys are just plain dumb. Except for the people that says it's obviously about his addiction. It's about his heroin addiction, I've seen an interview with Layne himself, explaining this song. Layne HATED his addiction to drug, he never wanted to be addicted in the long run, but when it all came to it self, he WAS addicted, and he said there was nothing he could do about it anymore. (my recall from the interview) I have never felt such frustration Or lack of self control (he was frustrated that he was addicted, and he hated that he could no longer control his drug abuse) I want you to kill me And dig me under, I wanna live no more (talking face to face with the drugs/his addiction. He'd like it to kill him, and do it sometime soon, because he'd rather not live a long life with frustration and addiction where his world revolved around one thing.) One who doesn't care is one who shouldn't be I've tried to hide myself from what is wrong for me For me (Heroin made him 'not care' about things, as long as he got his fix that was the most important thing. He's tried to cover himself and not fall into he drug, referring to "hiding himself so the addiction couldn't fin him") I want to taste dirty, stinging pistol In my mouth, on my tongue (pretty obvious, he want to shoot himself in the mouth (laying a gun on his tongue) I want you to scrape me from the walls And go crazy like you've made me (I'm not completely sure here. When you shoot yourself in the head usually, on stronger guns, leaning against a wall, your brain stew will splash on to the wall. The next line, about 'going crazy like YOU made me', I'm not too sure if he's reffering to someone he once knew, or the addiction.) One who doesn't care is one who shouldn't be I've tried to hide myself from what is wrong for me For me You, you are so special You have the talent to make me feel like dirt (the heroin/addiction has a certain way of making him feel like dirt, even though he enjoys getting his heroin because well... his body now needs it. But still, he knows it's wrong, and it's not the kind of person he wants to be) And you, you use your talent to dig me under And cover me with dirt (Addiction is slowly but surely ruining his life (the talent being making him feel good but at the same time making him feel like crap= and it's killing him (being burried under dirt)) One who doesn't care is one who shouldn't be I've tried to hide myself from what is wrong for me -------------------- I'm not just blurting out with shit here, I saw it in the interview, I don't remember exactly what words he used, but I remember what he was trying to make people understand about the text. |

| The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I'm norwegian. So it's cool there's a song about something involved around norway. But it would be cooler if it wasn't about our wood. |

| The Beatles – Maxwell's Silver Hammer Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Meat Puppets – Plateau Lyrics | 20 years ago |

^ I agree with brycec3. I love the chorus on this song, and I think it's one of their best (along with aurora borealis, such a beautiful piece of music right there). |
| The White Stripes – We're Going to Be Friends Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Ahhh this song was on the beginning of Napoleon Dynamite. Such a good movie... And this song makes me so happy, and it's so simple. |

| Weird Al Yankovic – Smells Like Nirvana Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Even if Nirvana is my all time favorite band, I kid you not, this is kind of fucking hilarious. | |
| Radiohead – Karma Police Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Karma basicly means what comes around goes around. If you hurt a person or do something wrong, your karma will go 'down'. So; If someone is doing something to the person who sings this, he'll complain to the 'karma police' (god, whatever...) and say bad things about these people. But, then he is doing something wrong, he is talking bad about other people, and he's making the other people maybe get into truble (seing as they've done SOMETHING to upset this guy). So his karma gets 'lowered'. So, after he realises all this, he goes "wow, not wait a second... I didn't mean that, "I lost myself".." to improve his karma. ---- This is my opinion on this wonderful song. |
| Marcy Playground – Sex And Candy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I don't think it has something to do with child molestion... More like. He's sitting in a coffee shop looking out the window, and he sees a hot chic. And he would like to do her, that's where sex comes in. Candy is something often put together with sex, because both of them (candy & sex) is good. Like.. that sick sick Aaron Cater or whatever his name is song. "I want candy, all I want is your candy". You know. |
| Jefferson Airplane – White Rabbit Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Well. It's mixed with Alice in Wonderland, one of the SICKEST movies of all time I think, and drugs. Because she's on them all the time. I love this song. It's so bloody good, and I love how it all get's all upbeat at the end, with "Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head". Haha, and this is on Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, that movie is so awsome. It's on the tub scene when Oscar's about to kill himself :P |
| Jefferson Airplane – Somebody to Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| God how I love this song. It's so amazing, and the drums and so like heavy but simple... | |
| Nirvana – Something in the Way Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Emo_grrl go hang yourself. That\'s the dumbest fucking comment ever, combined with that nick. And I agree with So_Impossible. Hehe Dell does give his big ass opinion and it\'s like, actually... heh. I\'m not sure what this song is about, but Rob\'s comment made the most sense to me.. |
| The Mars Volta – Frances The Mute Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I can\'t find this song on the CD. I know the lyrics are where the disc usually is, but I can\'t find it on the CD. It\'s just so confusing, With like 5 tracks but \'subtracks\' or whatever... | |
| Jesse McCartney – Because You Live Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Hah. I had to click this, from the "omg like totally i so wanna..." post. It was the most recent post. Don't these lyrics make you sick? |
| Nirvana – Lake of Fire Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Jackal person, the last post on page 1... first, NIRVANA is a band, you refer to nirvana as a 'he'. I'm assuming you refer to kurt. Nirvana wasn't a christian, Kurt was a bohdist (spelling?). Also, it's a cover of a Meat Puppet song, like almost all the posts here say. Just needed to get that off my chest because that post was somewhat fucked up. |
| Nirvana – Molly's Lips Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Simple... If he stays clean they'll be together. It's an ultimatum. | |
| The Libertines – Up The Bracket Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| By the way, does this song turn anyone else on? | |
| Goldfinger – 99 Red Balloons Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Luft = air, not red... It's the same in german as in norwegian. |
| Ash – Goldfinger Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is my favorite Ash song, and it's way too under rated. People should KNOW this song. | |
| Louis XIV – Finding Out True Love Is Blind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| LOOOOVE. | |
| Led Zeppelin – The Ocean Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Adding to my last comment, does anyone know what he's saying after "She is only three years old and it's a real fine way to start."? It sounds like he's saying like, "electrify" but i'm pretty sure that's not what he's saying. And I can not hear the telephone ring thing. |
| Nirvana – Bambi Slaughter Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| My god. My version of this song really sucks, there's some annoying tapping in the back... But from what I CAN hear, it's a good song. Kurt's voice is pretty here. | |
| Nirvana – Blew Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Flyingtreemonkey: SHUUUUUT UP! and wtf? Ash = punk? ehem. okay. This is an amazing song, and no cover is 'rad' or whatever. Nirvana did good on this one, and other bands shouldn't even try to cover it. |
| Nirvana – Come As You Are Lyrics | 21 years ago |
My god. I just heard a cover version of this song, by a warm up band called boing or something stupid like that. God they sucked! Way to kill a song! Nobody, ever, ever, ever try to cover a nirvana song, it just WON'T work! |
| Nirvana – Verse Chorus Verse (Version 2) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Wow, there are three different names for this song, verse chorus verse, sappy & laundry room. Confusing indeed, does anyone know what's the real name for it is, or what kurt used? |

| Nirvana – Polly Lyrics | 21 years ago |
During a slumber party in October of 1993, 12-year-old Polly Hannah Klaas was abducted at knifepoint from her Petaluma, California home. Thousands of residents from the surrounding community immediately responded with the largest manhunt in American history. Hundreds of selfless volunteers abandoned normal daily routines for 65 days. They answered countrywide calls, read thousands of letters and searched for Polly. A mass distribution of 2 billion images of Polly was sent worldwide. She had soon become a symbol of love and lost innocence. The world froze one cold evening in December when the media reported that Polly, America's Child, the beautiful girl with the warm brown eyes shown smiling in home videos for millions of TV viewers, was not found alive. The country was outraged. The public cried out for change in legislation and pro-action in crime prevention. "Polly was faced with a choice few people ever have to make," said her father, Marc Klaas. "By putting herself in mortal danger to protect her family and friends, Polly has become my greatest teacher." Marc Klaas immediately dove into a campaign to put children higher on the national priority list. With no prior media, political or public speaking experience, he immediately became savvy in affecting proactive legislation, and sought to advocate children's issues and speak out on crime prevention. Within a year the KlaasKids Foundation was formed. -------- from http://www.klaaskids.org/ |

| Nirvana – Oh, Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I don't think this is about drugs. I'm having it on right now, and I just don't think it has ANYTHING to do with drugs. I'm having this song in my funeral, that's how much I love it. |
| Nirvana – Been a Son Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I'll give it a go. She should have stayed away from friends (she should stay away from them from time to time, because it's easy to lose yourself among friends, no mather what gender or how good they are to you.) She should have had more time to spend. (if she'd just know she does have the time to sit down and talk about things with her family, things would have been better.) She should have died when she was born (She doesn't want to die, but she wishes she was never born. She feels she has caused so much pain towards other people, and herself, it's unfair that she lives (even though she might never have really done anything to other people). You know what they say, when a child is born, someone else dies. She feels unworthy of being born because someone died just to make room for her in the world, and she feels she's wasting it) She should have worn the crown of thorns (she's just so horrible, and everyone should see that. NOBODY should think she is good, that's not honest. She hates herself so much people should hate her as well (complicated feeling)) She should have - been a son (she should have been a guy, because everything would be so much easier then. Girls are often more sensitive and what not, but not this girl. she doesn't cry during titanic, she doens't talk about makeup and clothes and boys constantly with her friends. She doesn't fit in around girl, but she does around guys. Also, one theory could be that her parents wanted a boy) She should have stood out in the crowd (she shouldn't wear dark clothes, do her art/writing or whatever she's good at for herself, she needs to let people know who she is. But this girl has a terrible self-image, so it's hard to do so) She should have made her mother proud (what it says. Instead of "hurting" everyone like she think she is, and instead of being a depressed kid, she should have been like the girl in the family commercials, the girl with the mother who is so perfect and proud of her baby girl) She should have fallen on her stance (i'm not sure what this means) She should have had another chance (she should have another chance to make it all good again. Like, she wishes she could go back in time and change things she has done, and it might be a different story) |

| Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics | 21 years ago |
^ yes it does, it sucks alot. And, what's up with all the ! and ?..? Anyway, I think it's about how kids can be dumb. I'll try to explain another theory on what it might be about, but I don't know if i'm right.. Load up on guns bring your friends (street fights, common among kids) It's fun to lose and to pretend (in a street fight, you pretend to be "the man" or whatever, and when you're running away from it all, when you have 'lost', it was still fun, even though you lost. It's the thrill right after "war") She's over bored and self assured Oh no, I know a dirty word (She's one of those kids that act's like she's better than everyone else, but she's bored with every thing. Still, she's too self assured on her rep, she won't act on her feelings) Hello, hello, hello, how low? Hello, hello, hello, how low? Hello, hello, hello, how low? Hello, hello, hello (kids do things that are low, but they still do it when they know it's low - might be about "how retarded are you anyway?") With the lights out, it's less dangerous (when you're doing something stupid, but you have convinced yourself that it's not dumb, it's actually quite clever, then it's not as scary as it might seem. I.E: you're beating the shits out of someone with your 'group', and since the 'light has gone off - your convinced this is the right thing to do', your not that afraid of getting caught) Here we are now, entertain us (kids are expecting to be entertained these days, most kids have a hard time thinking of something do just do, like they did in the old days. They are like "so here we are... now entertain us!") I feel stupid and contagious (not quite sure what this means, but maybe that stupidity CAN be contageous, one in the 'group' thinks of something dumb to do, and the rest follows - the first dumb one is 'contageous') A mulatto, an albino A mosquito, my libido Yea! (I think he's just rambling here...) I'm worse at what I do best And for this gift I feel blessed (he/she can't really do anything right, but he/she doesn't care, because he/she is just fine with the results) Our little group has always been And always will until the end (back to the fact that most teens have their "group", and the bond they make. the group will last till the very end. Also, it could be that it's a threat that's never really said out loud, but everyone knows, that if you leave this group, the rest will come after you/take you/hurt you in some way) And I forget just why I taste Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile (I belive this is alcohol/drugs of some kind. Could be about himself, but if i'm sticking to my teen theory: he/she has promised to be good/told themselves that they aren't going to fall into the pressure of drinking/doing drugs, but they still do (i forget just WHY I taste). But then in the heet of it, they're doing it because it makes them loosen up, they get accepted in the 'group', and when the drug/alcohol starts to kick in, it makes he/she smiles, because then they're accepted and high. They're happy.) I found it hard, it was to find Oh well, whatever, nevermind (not sure what this means. maybe that it's hard to find themselves, find out their place in the world, but you know, screw it. whatever, nevermind. it doesn't mather, he/she doesn't care, they'll just be whoever other people wants them to be..) a denial (everyone denies that this is how kids are these days, and pretend everything is okay. Specially some parents deny the fact that their kid drinks smokes, even if they find cigarettes or booze in the kids' room.) ------------------- Does this sound completely lost, or is it possibly what it's about? If the title weren't smells like TEEN spirit, though, it could be about something entirely else.... |

| Nirvana – Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
For me, this song seems to be about a girl named "annie" who used to sleep around. Then she left town. Now, she's back, and "Her style is new but the face is the same As it was so long ago". Means that she has changed, she might not be as easy as before, but she looks and dresses the same tempting way. I think. |
