This song is so simple but yet so moving. It has the most beautiful melody and is in my opinion the best elton song there is. The song is about a relationship that is falling apart, the lines "do we have to fight again" reflects it. It's all about one persons point of view of the way he/she wants his/her lover to compromise and not be so mean. The person can see a big arguement (storm) coming 9 times out of 10. He/ she wants to settle down (turn out the light) but the other still wants to carry grudges.
This song is a masterpiece and deserved an award. |

This song was writtn in 1989, a time when freddie knew he had AIDS. Even though he had the illness, this didnt stop him recording some of the best music ever. And by this time there was alot of press covarage on queen, alot of it bad. This song was written about how bad the press and the news can damage someones life and the effect it has on them and their family. This is represented in lines such as
Here come the bad news, open the floodgates
They'll leave us bleeding, we say you cheapskates
Over and over and over again
It's a very seriouse , dark and dramatic song about the life inside the world of fame. It's not the sort of queen song you would play in a party but a queen song you could listen and respect what their saying in the lyrics. |

This track is reflects the last year of queen most beautifully. It's my favourite song of all time and agrying with weave056, this has got to be the most moving songs of all time. I heard in an interview that when Brian May wrote this and showed it to freddie, he said "I will sing this with all I have got", because he knew what the song was about. |

This track is Brilliant it's words are full of humour and catchy melodies. It really about a homeless person who knows a girl who rings him now and then by the payphone. In verse 2 its like he asks someone else to wring her and tell her "she can kiss me ass", then laugh, he says then "that way she'll know its really really me". It's chorus I can't really answer but the melody and chords are really catchy and memorable. Its THE most uplifting track on the 'automatic for the people' album, I may not get it much but it's a real joy to listen to. |

Officially Nixon was dubbed a bad President for the USA, this is also reflected in the line "the best years never found you". The chorus in simply just the band saying that Nixon was a President with love to give and the line death without assaination is simply he died normally without being killed. In my opinion the music is excellent, catchy, sad and dramatic in some areas. The music fits really well with the words, this song is most probably one of the manics best works I'v ever heard. Why not write about the past, I mean walking in memphis was written about Elvis, this track the manics are just looking back at the times. |
