i agree with night; not necessarily that this song incites actual childhood memories, but in that the way the lyrics seem to describe the world with a child-like simplicity [and the way the words are sung in the song adds to this as well] and the unbridled creativity of a child as the world is interpreted.

i'll have to agree with a lot of the people here; the first time i really sat down and listened to this song, lyrics and all, i nearly cried at its beauty and message of hope. i hear this song as a sort of story, in a political/revolutionary sense, where the narrator's friend, who happens to be some kind of leader/inventor [of machines and ideals] rises up in an airship [thus the title] to bring a new way of life to the people of the city. at first i'm reminded of russia, but at the same time i think of it as a sort of revolution that ends up actually working and really, finally, bringing a sort of peace, hope, to the people of the world, and leaving the destruction behind. this relates to me, ideally, because there are a lot of ideas that i've had/read about that turn my life around that pertain to the idea of 'saving the world' and humanity ina sense, but by doing it in the way i were to beleive, we do have to leave everything behind.

Mew – She Spider Lyrics

i am thinking whoever posted these lyrics meant 'SHEspider'...? i have always thought of the chorus as sort of.. though one can live a nice life, ie, suburbian with loving family, boy/girlfriend, etc., they still end up having some kind of problem [depression, something internal] which is expressed as the spider. however i've always heard the lyrics as 'with a spider in you', which would make sense on this point of view. also, it doesn't quite fit with the rest of the lyrics... possibly.... hm.

i interpret this song as... a girl growing up. and possibly not growing up fast enough. ['You’re surprised at what you go through. As if no one ever told you. On your own feet, your own feet stand] like she carries her immaturity through to her first few years working as a professional, and ends up falling for someone at work...? 'She worked hard to be his novice and then broke into his office.' though, here, it could also be that she is interning at the place in which she falls in love with.. whoever... 'there's a big noise from her chest/let me do the talking' could be something like her heart taking over and speaking for her. now that i think of it.. mica, being a mineral that flakes [breaks?] very easily, could be a reflection of her heart. 'a glued together vase is still a vase' her heart is still a heart, even after it has been broken.
