System of a Down – Suite-Pee Lyrics 21 years ago
"Down with religion" is the obvious meaning of the song. You can go deeper if you want, but the barebones fact is that it's against the Church and all the bullshit it produces. DIE for a belief, DIE to be rewarded, DIE the way that your God did.
People are brainwashed everyday by the greatest emeny of humanity, religion. Only when we begin to see that it is nothing more than a smokescrean, a gimmick to confuse and make us into pawns for some eternal father figure, only then will we begin to question and be free of these bonds of slavery.

Creed – Beautiful Lyrics 21 years ago
Personally, I believe that there are many better bands out there :cough: Thursday :cough: Although some of their songs are good (Beautiful being one of them, Inside Us All the only other one I can think of off the top of my head). I can see why people like them; they're like a Christain version of all the hard rcok bands that are out there, and if you like that, fine. Like it, I don't care. Saying that they outright suck, however, is a bit much. There are better bands, yes, but still, they don't "suck." Dido, Fleetwood Mac and Kenny G suck. Let's just get that clear right now people.
Although, I've got to hand it to these guys, when they do a good song, they do a good song. Inside Us All is pure genius, and this isn't that bad either.
I guess the main beef that I've got with this band is that they're, pure in simple, Jesus freaks. I can't stand radical Christians, or radicals of any religion. I think that many of us music listeners of today will agree with this, and just want the holy, pious nature of the eternal father-figure out of the rock and roll scene. If the Christians wanna call this "bringing Satan into the buisness," then so be it. I'll be listening to Master of Puppets.

Rammstein – Klavier Lyrics 21 years ago
Wanted to kill her? He did! "I pour her blood into the fire of my rage." Pretty obvious. He is revisting the setting of the piano, where his love played for her, which is most likely a double-meaning for being in love with him. The piano is old, "The keys are dusty, the strings out of tune," thus meaning that the love, passion, etc. is nothing more than a dead memory. She plays behind the piano, but that was so long ago, again, meaning that she is no longer with him. She claims, also, that she will "only play for him," obviously meaning that she loves no one else. But it seems that was a lie...
A great song, one of the best by everyone's favorate German industrial group.

Evanescence – Imaginary Lyrics 21 years ago
One of the best songs on the "Fallen" album, it shows the lyrical excelence of the band as a whole. To me, the song is about a person who has nothing left in the real world to hang on to, and escapes to her dreams for refuge. Although this world is better than reality, it is still a ruse, and Amy Lee knows this. Paper flowers, purple skies, and candy clouds, while wonderful to run to, are still fake, and are only figments of the mind. She knows this, and while embracing her dream world, is also discouraged at the same time. She invites others to join her in this bliss, either because she is trying to help others, or she is lonely in his dreamy exile.
A beautiful song, simply wonderful.

Nirvana – Come As You Are Lyrics 21 years ago
Come As You Are is the song that really got me interested in Nirvana. Being a Metallica, Thursday, and System Of A Down fan (at least, those are the bands that I listen to the most from the past twenty years :p), I always shoved Nirvana into the background, swearing that I'd listen to it one day. But a short while ago, I heard this song of the radio, and I was awe-struck. This song is one of my favs now. To me, it describes how one person's desire for another to be him/herself. You don't need a mask, and you don't need to play a role. You're cool being you. "You" kicks ass. Why pretend to be someone else?

"As I want you to be," is a great line in this song. I just want you, no one else. I don't want the mask, the role, the costume. I want the person behind the mask. "Take your time, hurry up," is another. The transition is going to be hard, and take some time to get used to your own skin, but you need to adapt to survive. All in all, great song.

Metallica – Leper Messiah Lyrics 21 years ago
The song, according to an interview with Metallica in the 80s, was written as a direct outcome of the televangelism scandal, where millions were given to two ministers who used it for their own personal gain rather than that of the church. The song reflects the control that religion, in specific, the Christian Church, has upon millions of people. They blindly follow their preachers and the story of a man who lived two thousand years ago, doing whatever their abstract lord says. I could go on with this for hours, but I won't, as this is not the place to do so. I was a member of the brainwashed elite for quite some time, but I've been questioning for quite awhile. A year or so ago, I left the Church and all organized religion behind and became agnostic. It remains as the best decision I've made in my life. This song reminds me of the chains I left behind.

Rammstein – Nebel (English) Lyrics 21 years ago
Yes, it is a bad translation. Wait, ex that. A horrible translation. Doesn't anyone know German anymore? I shall be of service and give you the correct translation. Changes from the first translation are in brackets:

“[They stand with their arms wrapped around each other]
A mixture of flesh, so rich in days.
Where the sea [touches] the land
She [wants to] tell him the truth

But [the wind eats her words]
Where the sea ends
She [holds his hand, trembling]
And kisses him on the forehead

She carries the [evening] in her breast
And knows that she must [wither away]
She lays [her] head in his lap
And asks for [one] last kiss

And then he kissed her
Where the sea ends
Her lips, weak and pale
And his eyes tear up

The last kiss
[Was so long ago]
The last kiss
[He doesn’t remember it anymore]”

The song is, as said by other reviewers, about two lovers during the final hours of the female. The setting is most likely a beach, due to the references to the sea. This encounter that we are given is the last that they shall spend together, and the entire song reflects on the final few minutes or so. The woman is most likely dying of, as others have said before, breast cancer. The reference of “she holds the evening in her breast” seems to support this postulation. The most commonly misunderstood lyrics are the last. The last kiss, we are told, was so long ago, that the man doesn’t even remember it anymore. He did not lose his memory because the kiss was so long, nor does he forget his pain. It was merely a long time ago, and he forgets it now.

I hope this clears some things up.

Creed – Inside Us All Lyrics 21 years ago
Inside Us All is the best song to come out by the runaway Christian rockers Creed since their conception. It deals with depression, it's effects, and the light at the end of the tunnel that we all strive to find.

"When I'm all alone, and no one else is there, waiting by the phone to remind me I'm still here."
The protagonist has secluded himself in his own little world, shutting him off from everyone else. His only connection to reality is that the phone is beside him, and that a call might awaken him from the trance.

"When shadows paint the scenes where spotlights used to fall..."
After being popular and loved, he is left alone, in the shadows of isolation. These shadows scare even more, because they used to drown out in the limelight, destroyed by the applause of the crowd.

"…and I’m left wondering, ‘Is it really worth it all?’”
Is all this pain and agony worth it? Will my efforts be recognized? Or will I just whither away and be forgotten along with the years, the headlines, and the music.

“There’s a peace inside us all. Let it be your friend.”
In each human being, there is tranquility, an inner-peace that no one can touch, hold, or steal. Many people let go of this peace, try to make it go away, or just don’t see it during their darkest hours. We must embrace this peace if we ever want to get out of the darkened hole of depression.

“It will help you carry on in the end.”
Everything has to end, but end it in love rather than hate.

“Life can hold you down if you’re not looking up.”
We can stumble during our lives if we do not pay attention. We must be attentive to what is going on around us, and not to fall into our own little dream worlds.

“Can’t you hear the sounds? Hearts beating out loud.”
Sometimes, our ears are mute to those around us. Each person is precious, and each person deserves recognition.

“Although the names change, inside we’re all the same.”
Each person is different, but we are all equal in one sense: We all feel love, hate, desperation, anger, trust, and embarrassment.

“Why can’t we tear down the walls and show the scars we’re covering?”
We build up walls with our differences, and they further add to our suffering. Tear down these walls, let everyone see you clearly, and show them what you’re hiding. Everyone has scars. Some more than others, but we all have them.

Honestly, I don’t like the band that much, but this song is absolutely amazing. May you find peace.

Metallica – To Live Is to Die Lyrics 21 years ago
"To Live Is To Die" is the unofficial tribute to Cliff Burton. The band has never publicly said it, but it is pretty much understood. The entire song is based off of the bassist, quite possibly one of the greatest of all time, who died in 1986 after being run over by a bus. The song displays the anger that the band felt with Cliff's death, as well as the peace and tranquility that was Cliff Burton.

The song begins with the soft, slow tones of Spanish guitars, idly repeating their tranquil tones. This symbolizes the peace of Cliff while he was still alive. The guitars fade out, to be replaced by the pounding of drums, which explode into an earthquake of power cords. This sudden replacement of mood shows the abruptness of Cliff’s death, and the anger that the band feels towards its injustice. After four or so minutes of rage, it stops, to yield to the soft tones of Jason Newstead, backed by violins. The solo that Newstead performs is a masterpiece, genuinely from the heart, and eye watering. The love, peace, and all around goodness of Cliff Burton are expressed through this. The only lyrics of the song are said shortly afterwards. Written originally by Burton, it expresses his hatred towards this world, but shows that there is hope beyond, in a higher realm of understanding. The power cords begin again, and slowly fade out to admit the Spanish guitars again, beginning the cycle once more. This shows that Cliff shall never really die, and that his legacy shall continue for as long as heavy metal exists.

God bless Cliff Burton, and may he find the Kingdom of Salvation that he tried so hard to find.

Evanescence – So Close Lyrics 21 years ago
One of the most emotional songs by Evanescence ever produced, and one of the best songs of it's kind IMO. The lyrics amplify the musical excelence that is presented.

"I've spent so much time throwing rocks at your window, that I never even knocked on the front door"
Obviously, this person is madly in love with someone. By throwing rocks, Amy Lee is means that she is trying to persuade this fellow by force, anger, etc. Knocking on the front door is to show your love for somone with love and tranquility. She's spending so much time just being angry, and never even trying to be kind and gentle.

"I've walked by statues, never even leaving one chip."
The statues are the people in this world that she has met and delt with. Throughout her life, she's never even made an impression on them in any way.

"But if I could leave a mark, on the monument of your heart."
Again, showing the deep love of this person

"I might just lay myself down a little more than I had on the last day."
Because she made no impact on her lover, she's been restless, and always trying to make that impression. If she had "made one chip" on the "monument of the heart," she would have backed off, and rested on "the last day," or the day that the couple parted.

"Wait outside, and spare these lies we tell ourselves."
Lying to one's self about a relationship only makes it worse. "Spare these lies" to spare the hurt that they will evenutaly cause.

"These days, they have come and gone"
Love ebbs in and out

"But this time they're sweeter than honey"
But this is a true love, that's better than all others, "sweeter than honey."

Truly one of the best lyrical efforts by Evanescence ever.
