Alexisonfire – Pulmonary Archery Lyrics 19 years ago
I was thinking.. just extending on the school idea..
I think it has a double meaning.
Hes in history class, and getting the whole "You have to say sorry to the african americans" thing, even though he didnt do anything wrong.. it wasnt his mistake, hence he feels that he shouldnt have to apologise..
And then, at the same time he's going through somthing with a girl where he's copping the blame but he didnt do anything wrong.. If he'd just say sorry it'd be okay, except he has dignity and wont allow himself to say sorry for somthing he didnt do.
I was thinkin that maybe the rainbow is a reference to drug induced hallucinations? Maybe trying to say "You're out of your fuckin mind if you think im going to say sorry"..

The alamo being penatrated... reference to history class again, but also... the alamo was a church where mexicans besieged american rebels who were trying to make texas independant of mexico.... so the white man would be him, an 'american rebel' because he WILL NOT apologise and is trying to separate himself from this lie... so now she's (the love interest, symbolised by the mexican force) is going to infiltrate and take what he is defending. hence, there 'is little hope for the white man'

I dunno.. just a few thoughts.

James Blunt – Tears And Rain Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm studying the movie Blade Runner by Ridley Scott at the moment for English. In it there's one of the main quotes "All those moments will be lost in time, like Tears and Rain". Basically the guy who says it is a robot who has run out of time, and hes seen things that humans could never dream of and hes more humane than many of the people in LA 2019, where the movie is set. It deals with the questions of humanity, and how to be content when your time is up. The song reflects the identity crisis that this character goes through and with the confrontation with death, and that being a robot he has no choice of the afterlife, "How I wish I could choose between Heaven and Hell". Its not that hes having trouble choosing, its that he doesnt have the choice and he wishes he was more.. human. I think that the writer is questioning what it is to be human.. and why people do horrible things to one another..

George Michael – Flawless (Go To The City) Lyrics 20 years ago
I cant believe no one has commented on this song. It's so uplifting and fun. I think its about breaking free of a small-town or anywhere but where you want to be and getting out there and making something of yourself in the big city and having heaps of fun whilst doing it..

After the Fall – The Fighter Lyrics 20 years ago
I can completely see how you can see this song is about sex.. And it very well could be, but to me I thought her innocence was more her being so naive not being able to see that the write has feelings towards her.. hence, "So curious, Lips so red like a hilltop forest fire, Oblivious.."
He really likes this girl and he's trying to show her but she just wont see, so hes trying desperately to gain her trust and get her to tell him all her secrets to feel close to her.. He keeps fighting for her affections but she keeps turning her back on him and shutting him down something fierce, hence "Cos I am the fighter and you are the fists that bruise my face" which is further confirmed by the use of present tense with the word "bruise" not "bruised" because she keeps hurting him..
Thats just my impression anyway.. Great song, Saw them play at fishers, hurrah I have a photo with Ben!

The Superjesus – Gravity Lyrics 20 years ago
Brilliant song.. Some of Sarah's best vocal work.. It's a shame she lowered her standards so much when she went solo..
I think the song is about suddenly being confronted with the gravity of a situation with someone.. She's hanging onto someone that in the end is hurting both her and him.. hence, "hanging onto you, I never thought Im killing someone".
She's kinda trying to be funny by saying.. Well its only the reality of the situation, emphasis on 'only'.. hence, "more than any other day its ONLY gravity"...
I dunno.. Just what I think about the song..

Taking Back Sunday – One-Eighty By Summer Lyrics 21 years ago
I think that this song, as cliche as it sounds, is about a girl.
He is in love with this girl, and he is more than sure (rather hoping) that she is in love with him too. And even though they both have been involved either physically or emotionally she still wont admit it to him that she is in love with him but this is mainly because she has another guy and she loves the attention, and she wouldnt give up either of the guys as it makes her feel extra loved and extra special. And particularly the frustration is when she turns it around and says things like "why cant u live up to ur first impression".. wen in reality she made him to be something that he wasnt in her mind. but it fuels itself because he tries to live up to this image that she has of him as being perfect because hes so in love with her.
