ok Im going to try and break this song into seperate parts to give out the full meaning so here i go... "Life is bigger It's bigger than you And you are not me The lengths that I will go to The distance in your eyes Oh no I've said too much I set it up " "life is bigger than you and you are not me", I think hes saying that "im not that important as you are" "the lengths that i will go to" of course means "i would do anything for you" "The distance in your eyes" I think means "you dont even notice me" "oh no Ive said too much" could mean that he doesnt want the person to know how he really feels but he set it up to to let her know anyway. "That's me in the corner That's me in the spotlight Losing my religion Trying to keep up with you And I don't know if I can do it Oh no I've said too much I haven't said enough I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try" him in the corner means hes alone but being in the spotlight means hes trying to give out hints. "Trying to keep up with you and I don't know if I can do it" speaks for itself. again he's afraid hes said too much but he wants the person to know how he feels about them so in the long run he also feels that he hasnt said enough because the person isnt noticing him. He's thinking delusionaly that the person is noticing him but in reality she isnt and he makes refrence to this part of the song for the rest of the song at the end of each verse. "Every whisper Of every waking hour I'm Choosing my confessions Trying to keep an eye on you Like a hurt lost and blinded fool Oh no I've said too much I set it up" every whisper to himself and everyday he wakes up hes trying to figure out another way to tell the person how he feels about them but since the person doesnt really feel the same way, he's "like a hurt lost and blinded fool" because he doesnt realize that. "Consider this (2x) The hint of the century Consider this The slip that brought me To my knees failed What if all these fantasies Come flailing around Now I've said too much I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try" he went down to his knees for the person considering it "the hint of the century" but failed. Hes afraid that the just because the person doesnt feel the same way means that its over as in the refrence to "what if all these fantasies come flailinf around" in the end he realizes that its nothing more than a dream in his mind and knows that its never going to happen. Theres something that every religion has in common and thats faith. I think when he says he's "losing his realgion" hes losing faith in the person he loves. |
