And I was stupid enough to think this site was to discuss song meanings - how stupid of me.... I thought it was bad enough when people post messages like "I just love this song... it's just the best!"... but this pretentious chat room wittering is ridiculous. Sort it out! |

It's definitely "jumped up pantry boy" - I had a look around and it's from Sleuth - a film with Mike Caine and Loz Olivier. Check out www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~moz/nicked.htm for loads of lyrics that Moz nicked from various places...including confirmation of where this one comes from. Check it out...there's some good ones in there |

has anyone mentioned that the "jumped up pantry boy" lyric is a direct quote from a Michael Cane movie - it's the one where he is a thief running a scam with a rich fella. I haven't seen it for years but always remember him standing on the stairs and being shouted at by the other famouns actor (Richard Burton?) that he was just a jumped up pantry boy who never knew his place. The ring reference I think refers to what he was planning to steal as part of the insurance scam. |
