| The Cure – More Than This Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This song is about a guy, that is so madly infatuated with a girl, that he doesn't mind that she will never be his own. 'the taste of any other, is all i want from you'... One kiss is still all he wants. One memory that will get him through an eternity of lonliness. To be that in love with someone, To know that they don't love you back, -and yet to still dedicate your entire life and soul to them, That is true love. Granted - it's the unrequited love that no one would ever wish to feel. but it's true -and it's what this song is all about. The Cure - pure genius |

| To me - this song captures the rebellion and awakening of youth which emerged during the early sixties late seventies... i love it | |

I love this song - its like the lyrics are praising oblivian, a really interesting way of looking at life. 'well, i'd 'a jumped from my tree and i'd a danced like the king of the eyesores' being in a limitless world where there are no boundaries and anything is possible. this is how i feel when i hear the beautiful words of this song |

'haystack charm around your neck....' i don't think that this has ANYTHING to do with the storage or stash of drugs... the lyrics shouldn't be taken so literally. i feel that the lyrics reveal that the girl/boy wearing the haystack charm is simply lost... obvious connotations can be made between a haystack charm and a needle lost in hay. lyrics shouldn't be studied line by line, but instead enjoyed. the song is far more rewarding when the lyrics are interpritted as a whole, rather than scrutinized individually... needle in the hay is an awesome song written by a musical fucking genius |

no offence to all of those who have found their own, very detailed, meaing of the song, needle in the hay. But to me, this song does not need to be overly scrutinised, but appreciated for its very apt lyrics. Yes, i think that the song is about a heroin adict, and i love Erisian's view that the adict is looking at himself in the mirror. I feel that the song does contain a lot of deeper meaning and elliott has definately used pun and strong imagery throughout the song. However, this song is not being given justice by being overly 'worked out'... I also felt that the use of this song during 'Richie Tenembaum's' suicide attempt in the 'Royal Tenembaums' was an amazing choice of music, because the lyrics can be interpritted in so many different ways. Thanks Elliott |
