Sorry--the laa lada dada is actually "love to love you baby" from one of my favorite Donna Summer songs, the beat is from one of my favorite Indian songs. |

Pretty good lyrics, though I hope they change the name. I'm getting quite tired of hearing about this "you" that keeps lying to the guys, but this was a good twist on it. And the song itself sounds great. Good music, good rapping, good singing, and of course that wonderful roar. |

| Snoop Dogg – Vato Lyrics

The meaning of this song is perfectly clear. Even if you hear a fully censored version of the chorus, free of 'gun,' 'shoot,' 'charge,' etc, you can understand every word.
Someone said this was about 'blacks' vs. 'browns.' No idea why, but I do know that the lyrics are wrong. He doesn't say "I don't give, I'm Snoop Doggy Dogg" he says, "I don't give a fuck, I'm Snoop Doggy Dogg." |

I looked over the comments and found out I had already said I didn't think it was about a guy/girl thing....it must have been a year ago.
Anyway, it's either about molestation or just physical abuse (I lean towards the second.) Either way, the psychological trauma is far deeper than the result of a mere relationship. |

I never saw it as a guy/girl thing. It seems to be about actual abuse. Even the most disfunctional dating relationship wouldn't include the girlfriend enjoying her boyfriend's self-abuse. |

These lyrics are wrongs. Just an example, but it's
"The game, if you don't believe, look at the karats."
This song is defintely catchy, and I could dance to the parts Nicole is singing, but it's sad that the chorus has more meaning than anything else in the song. I mean, "somethin Italian, or maybe Puerto Rican, you can catch me in Paris"

| Monica – The Boy Is Mine (with Brandy) Lyrics

I love how they seem to be trying to restrain themselves (see I tried to hesitate) while maintaining infuriating confidence, displaying understandable irritation, and mocking one another.
On the other hand, these lyrics--clever as they may be--are as unoriginal as it gets. Ever heard 'The Girl Is Mine'? Granted, I prefer this song, but that one has far better vocals.
Not that Brandy and Monica are untalented. |

| JoJo – Too Little Too Late Lyrics

|
It's kind of sad that she's still singing about break-ups two years later, but JoJo's voice is still good. And while her outfits have gotten more revealing, she hasn't bared her midriff yet.
One thing I notice is that in both this song and Leave, she claimed she had given up everything to the guy. Since I'm assuming she was still a virgin at fourteen, JoJo seems to have some issues with melodrama. |

| Kelly Rowland – Can't Nobody Lyrics

|
I just don't get it. Kelly Rowland is beautiful and talented, and she's capable of truly wonderful songs ('Stole.') Yet this song is repetitive and cliched. She should focus less on bragging (a staple of Destiny's Child) and more on the "know I've done wrong" factor. |

| Evanescence – Call Me When You're Sober Lyrics

This isn't the Evanescence I know, with the seraphic voice and poetic lyrics. The deep voice and straightforward lyrics remind me of something I would make, but more aggressive. Even the musc video seems like something I would do...
That said, it's a good song. Though Amy sounds different, her voice is still enchanting. The beat is good, but the lyrics are a bit dissappointing.
If anyone else made this, I probably wouldn't listen to it. But if I did, I would probably love it. It's just not what I love in Evanescence.
Then again, their songs can be eclectic. I won't judge the album by one song. |

This song is getting pretty overplayed. I'm surprised there aren't more posts.
Paula doesn't have the best voice, but this is a good song. And it's catchy. She's also pretty, though in parts of the music video she seemed to be trying to mimic JoJo in her "Leave" music video. |

| Ashlee Simpson – Invisible Lyrics

She sounds and looks stunning (I was also surprised by the six pack) though she kept a bit of punk in the wrestling thing. I also prefer her old style, but it's better than the persona in her last two music videos ('Boyfriend' and 'L.O.V.E')
My friend thought this was inspired by the Princess Diaries!
I disagree, but I guess it could be used. It seems that people who ignored Ashlee before are pretending to like her now that she's famous.
Terrific lyrics. |

I'm sure I'll receive plenty of insults for the "ruining your own songs" comment. I'm not implying that Beyonce messes up songs, she just tends to write a song and then write another song which completely contradicts it.
For example, read the lyrics to one Destiny's Child lesser-known singles. It's called "Nasty Girl." You'll see what I mean. |

Ugh! She did it again!
With "Baby Boy", Beyonce took a catchy and fun Indian song and turned it into a song about sex. Well, she's done it again!
The beat of this song, and the part where she goes 'laa-lada-dada' is taken from one of my FAVORITE Indian songs, called Hum Tum.
PLEASE, Beyonce, you have talent, but stick to ruining your own songs! |

This is a catchy song, and Aaliyah looked stunning in the music video. However, Timbaland REALLY gets on my nerves. I have nothing against him, but he's ANNOYING. So is his presence in all of Aaliyah's songs. So is his tendency to go 'freaky-freaky' in that high, squeaky voice. |

I want to make an interpretation of this, but there have been so many wonderful ones it seems rather useless. This song seems to perfectly symbolize a character I wrote in a novel.

| Beyoncé – Deja Vu Lyrics
|
Wow, I'm the first one to write.
The meaning is pretty obvious, so this is really a review.
I read an alternate version of the lyrics more suited to the name of the song, but the lyrics themselves are decent. The real sense of "déjà vu" is in regards to Beyoncé's earlier hit "Crazy In Love." The similarities are obvious, though I also notice similarity to Christina Aguilera's new song "Ain't No Other Man."
While I prefer this, Christina definitely has the superior voice. Beyoncé's vocals sound strained.
I also have to frown upon the repetition of the "Crazy in Love" formula, though I did enjoy this. I actually prefer this chorus to the nearly identical "Crazy in Love" one, since I always had the feeling the music was racing towards some great climax it never reached.
I'm sure this will be hugely popular, and I have no complaints about that. It's definitely catchy, though I'm still waiting for Beyoncé to show her true vocal talents (which she hasn't done since the Destiny's Child song "Soldier.")
On a final note, I REALLY wish Jay-Z wasn't here. In "Crazy In Love," his meaningless rap was catchy and thus bearable. But he definitely detracted from this song. |

| Destinys Child – Lose My Breath Lyrics

A catchy song which shows the girl's voices (particularly Kelly's) to the best of their abilities (well, Michelle has sounded better, but her part was very catchy.)
I didn't like the music video very much. Not the dance-off so much as the outfits. Beyonce had two decent ones, Kelly had one, and the others all looked...ugh.
A friend of mine commented that the theme of this song was the same as in 'Bootylicious.' I disagree. (I will say that, again, this song truly showed off their musical skills. They all sounded awful in Bootylicious, though not as bad as Beyonce sounded in 'Emotion.')
This song is about either a relationship or sex, or even dancing, in which a person has lead her to believe he can make her (for the purposes of this, I'll refer to them collectively as 'her') happy and now seems incapable of it. Bootylicious is about telling a guy he isn't a good enough dancer to deserve dancing with someone who has such a bountiful figure.
Ironically, 'Bootylicious' was originally an insult implying something 'tasted like ass' (the essential equivalent of 'stinks'), so I think that term was a big miscalculation. |
