Yes, Dallas is a funny, nice guy. Very personal and sarcastic all at the same time. Though the man has a soft spot.
It is in my best belief this is a song dedicated to all those who have gone on a 'break'. Nearly all the lyrics point to a painful longing to repair what time & distance have strained or destroyed. The hesitance in the "Yes, most certainly" is drawn on by mass confusion that was never resolved. Time can be the causer for an unfortunate demise sometimes. |

A clever idea, Mr. Manback, but I don't fully agree with you. Maybe it's because I'm a romantic, but lyrics like "There's no way that I want you to be left behind" wouldn't really be directed towards such a corrupt industry. Though I like the idea of it.
I personally think it's directed towards someone who is trying or tried to leave their mark on Dallas, but he is unable to comply to their love. Hence the "So why does it seem that..." line. If you've seen him live he's got a very magnetic presence. Maybe the tough surface is due to a rough heartbreak from the past, but whatever it is, he's unable to dedicate himself to the owner of said scissors. |

This song takes the listener with them through the drug use. The beginning he's pleading to take away the pain, it's a relaxed beat and then during the chorus, or what I consider the drug trip, it gets heavy and overwhelming. It kind of takes you away from whatever feeling you had in the first verse. The void that is being lifted due to the novacaine. |

The lyrics are golden. It's exactly how one feels when you want to get over the pain of loss. No matter how hard you attempt to forget or not care, you can't help but remember and wonder how that person is doing. The emotional scar when someone has truly left their mark. |
