The beat to this song sounds like "Bathwater" by No Doubt. Doesn't make me love this song any less though. <3 |

=\ @ the religious babble. And a majour wtf @ Evan1055. I think this song is about the singer feeling insignificant to his significant other and that he leaves her because of it. Like the relationship wasn't reciprocated in a certain sense - "I am not your rolling wheels, I am the highway" - he was bigger than what the girl took him for. Yet he still misses her - "I put millions of miles under my heels, and still too close to you I feel". And the following choruses are sorta like a desperate plea to have her understand that he didn't feel needed enough, and if she could understand then maybe they'd work out. Or something like that. |

| Semisonic – Gone To The Movies Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song, to me, is very personal. As stellaluna1125 says so above, the movies is a place where one can be free and get lost in the plot. As this song progresses, the fact that shines is that the girl would rather be at the movies than be with him. Maybe it was cause of all the fights, or that the girl wanted something the boy could never be able to give her. "Another fool would go down to the Only place she ever went to lose herself" ... [go down to the theatre to look for her] "Another fool would dig the broken car out from the snow And drive to find the show" ... [shows desperation to find the girl at the theatre] "Any other fool would be out on the roadway Trying to spot her rusted Pontiac" [standing outside, waiting for her to come back] The 'fool' would be the romantic. Usually, girls fall for such things, but I guess this one doesn't. Or maybe, the fool is non-existant and that the boy never tried to do those things because he thought they'd do nothing when really they would've made a difference. "Now he looks around his place and anyways There's nowhere she could sit besides the bed And he wonders if the car will start tomorrow Or he'll have to take the bus instead" This is an interesting verse. The first two lines have a sense that the boy didn't have space for the girl in her life and that was what the girl needed. The second two lines confuse me a bit, but maybe it was just thrown in. ;) Anyway, this is a really good song. And great job to Dan for mentioning the Wallflowers. |

Gustaf and Bjorn are gifted in the way of putting ways into words. At first I didn't like this song because of the weird-sounding beginning, but once it got to the chorus, I just couldn't stop listening. I think this song's about the celebrity world and how most sheep think that celebs are the shit and all but really, they're probably the most fucked of the bunch. Society ignores it because it's common. |

Well, everyone "obviously" has their own opinions about what certain songs are about. /screwyourgodomfgJK!!!!11 *shakes head* -- This song was written for Johnny Cash but he died before he was able to record it as previously stated above. |

Pretty straight-forward song; self-interpreted and all that. Anyway, I'm currently in love with this song. I'm surprised why no one else has commented yet. It's sweet and quite lovely. |

| Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I applaud thee, stephiphany. I think this song is about two lovers who are broken up due to unappreciated outside forces, but they still love each other very much. People get in the way of them, and they just can't take it. And so they are only together when they're alone. They love each other very much, but it's just frowned upon in the views of others. Another [personal] interpretation may be that one of the lovers has done something completely heartbreaking to the other, but the other still loves the person very much - to the point where she/he's willing to forgive him/her for their wrongdoings. He/she's friends and family believe that the wrongdoer has hurt the singer very much, and that they should'n't be together anymore. But the person broke the person [in the eyes of the singer, Damien Rice] and the singer is expressing his/her pain towards this. He/She knows that the person will hurt him/her again, but she/he lives for this person, and will never stop loving him/her. It's a heartbreaking song. Especially if you can relate so closely to it. --- I'll always love you, Katie. No matter what anyone says. |

This song is utterly beautiful. In my opinion, there can be so many intrepretations for it. But to me, this song is about a couple who have been through heaven and hell with each other. They keep breaking up and getting back together again - they have a lot of love in the relationship, but they've got too many unresolved problems to really be happy together. The singer is saying that no matter what happens between them, through thick and thin, he loves her with all his heart cause she makes him happy. He just doesn't wanna go through the pain of losing her again. |

| Glasseater – Greetings...Goodbye Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Someone saying goodbye to their love because of problems. He/she thought that they were perfect for each other, but it just wasn't fate. So he/she writes a song to say goodbye because any other solution would be too painful, for stuff happened in the relationship that just couldn't be fixed. Sad, really. |

| K's Choice – Believe Lyrics | 21 years ago |

'bout someone whose eyes just opened up to the wonders of the world - and the horrors. the person needs help from someone else to correspond to his/her surroundings, he/she's confused life and love. maybe he/she's just woken up from the world of isolation - too afraid to face the world after a harsh breakup or something and needs someone to help him/her get on over it and into the place beyond the pain - to not linger behind. xx |

| The Format – At the Wake Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think it's about someone's father dying. Hence the term "wake". Also, a girlfriend is lost. "so far from me stands a man known as disease. he's shaking all the hands of the people that he meets" - ah, yes. The first part of the song - yet it means a lot and sets the mood. the setting's at a funeral and the 'man' is the preacher-minister-dude. he is known as 'disease' because he's always around when there's death. He tries to comfort by shaking hands but it doesn't shake off the fact that there's death around them. "since you left she's a mess. she regrets all the things that she could have said but... we fall asleep, never think about anything. we wake to the sound of a phone as it hits the ground" - his father dead, the mum's a grieving mess. The sound of the phone dropping is probably from the hospital saying that his father had died and the shock of it. "and oh at the wake, at the wake, i will turn to see a face. just a face, just a face, so surrounded by a name. what a name, what a name, and you never want to change. what you gave, what you gave, never want to let go" - is the sole simplicity of the pain of someone very close to you dying and the deadness in you at the funeral - looking at everyone's face and thinking it's just a face that corresponds with a name. "i want to live like i did before all this hit. to sleep in your arms, to think, we'll never fall apart" - now this part is about a girl that he also lost about the same time. It's like two heartbreaks in one, ya'know? "know its such a drag to live your life for a heart attack. to never get a second chance to say goodbye, so say goodbye ill never get to try" - heart attack = death. Maybe it was unexpected, 'cause he never got a second chance to say goodbye [to the girl and his father] "now ive been losing everything. you just dont see me anymore. ill say goodbye" - he's been losing everything that he thought would be there for him. he feels since they're gone, that no one will be there anymore. He wants to say goodbye to them so the pain of losing them will go away. Okay, yeah. Just wanted to put my own two-cent analysis in. btw, I love this song to bits. xx |
