I have a theory about these two songs ("Those Who Left" and "Those Who Stayed"). I believe that it's supposed to be a story about some sort of cataclysmic event happening to a group of people, perhaps a villiage, country, town, what have you. The story is split up into two parts, each one unfolding the tragedy that befell both groups, those who stayed behind to pick up the pieces, and those who left to find a better life elsewhere. And based on how both songs end, I don't think either ends happily. That's just my interpretation though. |
