mindless self indulgence sucks. Mef could stand on stage just standing there and be better than mindless self indulgence. |

this song's probably a mix of things. the lyrics make sense in a number of ways, and that just makes the song better. so stop with the "no you're wrong, no no, you're wrong, no you're wrong" that's fuc*ing stupid. a huge part of music is how YOU interpret the song. and yeah, the part where Mark starts with "you're cold with disappointment" rocks my socks. |

this song's great, from the first time I heard it it struck me as classic Nas tone. a relatively young guy with a ton of wisdom, and like GrtOne41 said it's almost a cautionary tale to other young rappers. it sort of reminds me of Rise and Fall as he deals with personal struggles in both and shaking himself out of the funk he was in. some great imagery in this song, especially in the beginning and end of the second verse, he's letting us in to his personal space for a second and telling us what was going on in his head. |

I've recently found a new appreciation for this song, I've known it for like 3 years but now I really think it's dope. to me it's just a big stream of consciousness with what he sees and how he lives. |

this song is crazy, it's a little tour in his career. he starts off as a hot youngster new to the scene, then hits his problems in the second verse. every time I hear "no management, no more good life, and no respect." in the third verse I can literally feel his shoulders slump as he hits the low point of his career, if you really listen you can hear he takes a small pause before he starts again with "hearin crowds roar..." he ends the song on a high point in dropping a hot album (Stillmatic) and getting his brain focused again. to me, this is one of his most personal songs. his rise and fall, the highs and lows of being one of the best lyricists and having people expect so much from you. |

this song is really good. the type of stuff that closed minded people will call you a fag for listening to. it sounds like in the last chorus when he's saying "I can't keep it all together, I know I can't keep it all together" it sounds like there might be a "it's too hard" faintly being sung. I dunno. good song. |

hahahahahahaha Zinbobdan is right!!!!!
also the lines "pray to your demi-god" shows Jesse's love of Elvis, his demi-god. "there must be something we can eat" maybe relates to how broke and hungry Jesse must have been as a starving musician, and like "find another lover" means find someone to take care of him.
whooooa, if this song really is about Full House that is fucking RAD!!!! |

I'm the last person to comment on this song but oh well! I'll do it again! and probably again after that!...
this song is now even more badass now that I know The Nephilim is referring to devils and such. the serum flows through his blood. he's rotting in hell waiting for his day to come when he can "find his place on high" and sit on the throne as ruler of all. |

WiseWiz, you might be on to something. this song isn't their best song but I love the line "When time soaked with blood turns its back, I know it's hard to fall." anyone know what he might mean by that? |

I disagree with the "they only have sex" theory because that way it would be easier for him (Gavin I guess) to not think about her and willing to do anything for her. (that's what I got from the song). they've got a long time relationship or just friendship that had a fallout, and he really wants to set the shit aside and talk it out. Silence is not the way. |

I know I'm probably wrong, but especially since this is one of their more recent songs, I think it might be about the band itself. "and it feels right this time" is like James thinking maybe this time the band can put their differences aside. and "pay no mind to the distant thunder, duty fills his head with wonder" is like being a rockstar and enjoying it even though you're almost certain there's going to be more turbulance in your band's career. that's just my take on it. fucking AWESOME song. |

this, like just about every Bush song is really random. I think he's just really confused and could be singing about a chick or a drug. I like at the end with the "what're you what're you what're you what're you?!" I just picture him coming down off a drug or from seeing his chick and not being able to understand how it or she could change him so much. a little bit too much bass and not enough guitar but a great song nonetheless. Bush is such an underrated band. |

this is better than the first Unforgiven. better singing and better guitar work. the chorus is so amazing and I still can't get that crunchy sound on my guitar. the solo is simple but uncanny. the video is a little lame. this is probably my favorite Metallica solo to sing to. the song itself is self explanitory. |

the lyrics to this song rule, even though it gets a little bit whispery and repetitive. this song is really good though. it's about 2 people being joined in life. they rise and fall together. |

omfg. this song is about Jesus' crucification, I just read some comments. his mother cries far away, he laughs because he knows he's coming back, the book has been written, and his father, God, either feels ill that his son has been killed or he was not "in office" for a day and that's how his son's execution was permitted. now even more, this is my favorite AFI song (though I'm not religious) |

it's lines. darkened pages, lines. straight, gay, bi, tri, transgendered, likes goats, WHATEVER, Davey Havoc knows how to write songs. and this is AFI's best. "Omnipotence Nurturning Malevolence." it gets no better. |

I like "The Polar Express'" take on this song.
I think this song is actually triumphant, I think Davey feels good about the person he is for once. "I remain in shadows growing wings" - he's just biding his time living on earth before he grows his wings and flies away. such a fucking awesome song. beaten only by God Called In Sick Today |

| AFI – ...But Home Is Nowhere Lyrics

"Jade's song" is 'Bleed Black' which is track 3 from the cd.
But Home is Nowhere is about feeling isolated and alone, but how can Davey write about stuff like that after signing to Dreamworks and being all over MTV and AFi being named 'best new band' even though they've been around for a helluva long time. I love the song, and I love AFI (except for this cd) but I think Davey has lost his right to write about being an outcast |

inept13, Tool is by far one of the most overrated bands out there. Tool has become poppy and trendy, you're "cool" if you like Tool. Tool is the most boring band I've ever listened to (rivaled closely by A Perfect Circle...another tragedy created by that crybaby drug addict whiny bitch, Maynard) |

| Bush – Swallowed Lyrics

I think bush gets no comments cuz a lot people think they're a fruity band...which they are in a way, but oh well.
This song is maybe their best. it's soooo good. "I'm with everyone and yet not" I think he means he feels vulnerable and alone but also annoyed that there are so many people disturbing him. "Sharp about everyone but yourself" I think means that you judge everyone and think you know everyone else's life, but you have no idea who you are. I think that's what Gavin is saying. |

you have no right to ask me now. you were never that around. and I have missed...
this song is really multilayered. there's a lot going on. I think mainly it's about being depressed and how it can start small but really severe. and when he sings "you have no right to tell me now..." I think he's telling a friend or significant other that he doesn't care what they think because either he has to face it alone or because they ignored him when he really needed their help. This song is outstanding, Gavin isn't a spectacular singer, but he's still mesmerizing with his voice. |

| Bush – Superman Lyrics
|
no no no no no. you guys are dumb and unimaginative.
he's saying nothing can save us, not even Superman.
"with a little more time and a six-leaf clover." you've been here for so long and you need something that doesn't exist to save you. you're kidding yourself thinking time will make it better.
"just a little more head to make you bolder." a lot of people remedy their miserable lives with sexual pleasure. 'getting head will make you able to go on' or something like that.
"you only know how to lose" self explanitory.
"only way out is through, way past you." either he means only you can help yourself get through life, or that Superman can do it. but he's obviously not real. "oh superman, where have you gone?" I believed in you when I was younger but now my spirit is dead. aaahhh, enlightening.
shame on everyone who's heard this song for not commenting on it. it's fantastic. |
