ok, skeetstan your a dumbass, mewtaila "pick a pint of purple bread" i just died laughing, please if you could email the lyrics to ledzeppelin7200@netscape.net ! amnd goomba... why listen to crappy pink floyd remakes when you've got the real deal from The Beatles? You guys still aren't getting it, this song isnt about stupid meanings or drugs.. its good old fashioned british humor.. haha like monty python and its also innocent yet very amusing humor, has nothing to do with drugs or nuclear war or any bullshit, and if that makes it childish than goddamnit let us fans of it be dubbed childish!!! I love this song. I love when Paul repeats the lines in the background followed by something that sounds like "whAHA!" lol my god how could that not amuse you? "in our yellow.. SUBMARINE WHAHA!!!" was pauls last quote. :) |

mine would look like 1.Thrice 2.The Beatles 3.Led Zeppelin 4.The Rolling Stones 5.Thursday or Taking Back Sunday (i cant decide) I have alot of other favorites, but those are my top five although i love Don Mclean's American Pie As for this song, its not zeppelin's best, but it is very good. And i disagree with the whole idea that it tells a LOTR story, but it does have some tolkein references. the girl in this song probably isnt anyone(or anything) in paticular, singing about something like a lost girlfriend just seems to be a good subject for many rock songs. |

i'll tell you what this is. this is a mockery of everything good about Don Mcleans american pie. Madonna is a disgusting, talentless, vile piece of dirt who doesnt deserve respect(and doesnt have it) from her own children. She makes me sick, and it disgusts me that the music industry actually allowed her to make this vile ripoff of a beautifal song by Don Mclean. Plain and simple, i agree with " Madonna= American Pie Murderer!!!!!!" and that "madonna raped this song" And in conclusion, people like madonna keep me wondering, why do serial killers and pshycos target wonderful musicians like John Lennon and let people who deserve to die like Madonna live? |

I have always tooken this song to have two meanings, like most of these songs do to me, a straight out obvious meaning, and the more hidden mediphorcial meaning. Obvious meaning i call it "murder for cash": A hitman, or a mob/mafia killer, or something similar. You see, they're highered to kill someone for money, and supposedly they do it for justice, but they don't need any evidence that the person they kill should die "paint the target, we dont need no evidence". And "never work without your gloves" is obviously to hide your fingerprints. And "think of all the dollars and the cents, and your blue blood say it makes perfect sense" sounds alot like the fact they they would kill people at the expense of others, and make money for doing so, "blue blood" refers to the sense of supperiarity. "your actions all were justified" must be sarcasm, or could be what the killer tells himself to make himself feel better about his crimes. This song sounds like its coming from the mouth of someone who is in such a buisness, nows its wrong but continues it anyway, and is talking to someone new to the buisness, a rookie. It reminds me almost of the way the "buisness" in the godfather was run.You know, the way they'd murder for someone in return for something, and heartlessly say "its only buisness". 2nd meaning, the mediphorical one: This is pretty broad. it could apply to many things, including drug dealers, shady buisness men, factories that create exessive polution, or the tobacco/alchohol industries. All of these things seem easily symbolized by the "murder for cash" example. |
