David Bowie – Station to Station Lyrics 18 years ago
Heart wrenching song for me. While the beat is all high and fun, im getting chills!

I dont have a comprehensive interpretation of the song, although emotionally it makes sense to me. I think its about his soul, about his longing for love. He's aware of his addiction but treats it like a disease that can have side-effects, not like the ruler of his life. I dont think that in this song he found someone to be inlove with, rather, i think he wants it and mocks it at the same time. 'Does my face show some kind of glow' - in my opinion its abit cynical.

I think all the riddly stuff is hallucinations of cocaine, but maybe I just dont understand what he reffered to.

Tori Amos – 1,000 Oceans Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is very much like many of her songs from this era - I think its about her abortions and an unborn child.

She's saying, I can't believe I would keep you from flying, which in my opinion means, she can't believe she would intentionally want to keep that baby's soul with her, growing in her, when this soul can fly away. But most mothers, especially those who've been to many abortions like Tori, wants their babies once they've gotten pregnant. So still she would cry a 1000 more tears if this baby can come back home to her.

So she will follow this baby and bring her home even though the rules (being, I guess, rules of God and life and all) say she cant, that she has to let her go. But she will follow her and bring her home. In the third verse she wonders if the baby will remember her, remember this little blue ball (being earth), or does it just fade away after you leave it.

I think its a beautiful song, in the video she looks so broken down. Makes much sense to me this song is about an unborn child, because I think that even after From the Choirgirl Hotel she had another abortion.

TV on the Radio – King Eternal Lyrics 21 years ago
Dont you think its somewhat a jesus-y song? "send us up a baby boy, let the smoke carry his name", makes me think of the birth of jesus. could it be a reference? And in this context, i think the next sentence is charming - "If its a girl let her shine".

I think the song is pretty self-explanatory. "the hour of the man is nigh" - man is really nothing, lives for a minute - and in infinity's hourglass, even less. love this song.

Tori Amos – Siren Lyrics 21 years ago
I suppose it wouldn't be the majority's opinion, but yet, ofcourse, i'll say it. :) after all, i know this song for like 6 years, its been built inside me.
I think it's about two girls, and the hate of one to the other. the observer, the simpler girl, watching the coquette getting in trouble, her lovely & desirable troubles, and hating her. "doesn't mean she's holy, just means She's got
a Cellular handy". 'dont make her a saint. she just happen to be there, dont fucking adore her', and so forth.

breaking the siren - just thought of it - the siren might be the voice. like an ambulance siren. yes, a voice, but still fragile, and can still be taken away, broken, by this coquette, who is estimated to be more valuable than the speaker.

ofcourse, no clue why and who will lie to himself in his own way, nor the "almost brave almost pregnant almost inlove" and more than that - "vanilla"? :)

And just for the record, this missing sentence, "And you dont need the light on to guide you through the southren lands you go", is one of the most beautiful sentences in Tori's songs, in my opinion.
