I hate this song just as much as the next person. Yet I don't think they're making fun of white people. I think they actually respect the music they're slaughtering in a weird way. It's an homage, if you haven't noticed the transition over the years from luda to pharrell to kanye to lupe... each of them is considerably whitewashed. And this niche of musically inclined black people are even more recently epitomizing every detail of Travis from Gym Class Heros style. If you think about it, classic rock and hair metal both glorified the same debaunchery and excess of drugs and alcohol, women, and money in practically the same manner of gangsta rap today. Visually, as far as the video goes, when they're trashing the motel room with the groupies I clearly see Avenged Sevenfolds Bat Country video. And they obviously referrenced to hair metal of the 80s with the girl on the car while shit blows up behind her. I don't interpret that as mocking metal so much as saying, hey that looks like fun. |
