| The Doors – The Soft Parade Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| hmm that could be dancingdays....or maybe you just lack the intelligence to comprehend anything that isn't spelled out 4 you...or maybe you just like your lyrics as simple as possible, in which case go back to Britney Spears and leave the Doors for the big boys, or not just a thought | |
| The Doors – Newborn Awakening Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Gently they stir. Gently rise. The dead are new-born awakening those lines are phenomenal, its interesting how he juxtaposes life w/ death. if u really think about it, the dead really are like newborns, waking up to a new (unknown) world. with their souls wet (new). gently they sigh in rapt funeral amazement if they really were waking up after their earthly existence they prob would sigh and be like, godamn that was a trip rapt funeral amazement - get it they just came from funerals |

this song is sweet, i cant stand how people cant look past the violent imagery and shit. do u not watch the godfather 4 the same reason? its like a comic book come 2 life in a rap song, and its got deep lines too...death gotta be easy cuz life is hard. freakin ignoramuses wanna reject it cuz they dont understand wuts behind it. y dont u try listenin 2 it with an open mind and think about wut hes really tryin 2 say. this is better shit than 99% of the crap on mtv anyway. outtie |

| Counting Crows – Round Here Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
my take is its like a childs view of adulthood. either a child whos just going into adulthood or an adult whos longing to be a child again. its like ur force yourself 2 grow up and when u do u look around here and notice that something radiates. and round here we dont have bedtimes, we can stay up as late as we want. and yet we notice that some people are really unhappy round here like the girl whos tired of life because her adult walls are crumbling. and the narrator figures that its better to be a kid when he could walk in between the rain, thru himself and back again. and the greatest divider between adulthood and childhood is the crumbling difference between the natural right and wrong we know as children and the right and wrong hoisted on us that we have 2 adopt as adults. adam walks that fine line with his singing where he is able 2 communicate feelings of pain without sounding like hes simply bitching. AND the dude macked jennifer anniston and courtney cox, both the hot friends. Man hes got game, musta been the dreads. |

| Coldplay – Yellow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i hate to get all deep again but i hear the song as coming from like the great creator of being or whatever u call the man upstairs. like hes checkin us sayin ur just skin and bones but turned into something beautiful. and he (or she or wutever) jumped across 4 us, and in turn feels loving responsibility, for us he'd bleed himself dry. i think the yellow is a reference to the sun, which has long been a symbol of a higher power. "and everything was all yellow". like when ur at a beach and the sun is beating down so hard u cant distinguish anything but its chill cuz u wouldnt wanna be anywhere else, everything is just yellow, everything is mellow. that skin and bones really gets me too. its pointing out that in absolute reality we're merely skeletons and flesh but somehow we're more, somehow we're beautiful. the best coldplay songs are like this 1 where they rock out. |
|
| Coldplay – The Scientist Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i interpret it as about the pain of growing up and losing childhood as well. like when we're children no1 ever tells us that being an adult will be easy, but no 1 ever mentions the inevitable hardships either. and lets take it back to the start is another way of saying lets go back to childhood when everything made sense, when we just ran in circles and things always somehow turned out cool. i dont really get the scientist reference tho. In the video he like "goes back to nature" after his girl gets killed, wandering in the woods 4 a nite. and when he sings "question of science and progress etc... they show him walking over train tracks. i wonder if that was purposeful. anybody with insight on the science reference should chime in. |

| Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
mike def has an innovative interpretation to clocks. The juxtaposition of the voices makes me look at it in a different way. Of course everyone is free to interpret the song in their own way but I think anyone who examines it on any level will determine, like most coldplay joints, that despite its appearence as a "relationship" song, its far more deep, almost existential. Personally I like how he takes the most pessimistic view of life -- closing walls and ticking clocks, cursed missed opportunities-- and overcomes them by contemplating the beauty of existence -- u are -- the final stanza,-- home, where i wanted 2 roam-- refers to death as kind of a liberator. despite all our individual lives and the pain in them, we all eventually go home, returning to our source. Wut makes the song so badass is the melody tho, its almost haunting. combine that with those introspective words and you get like the first real classic song of generation y. kudos 2 u chris martin |

| The Doors – Newborn Awakening Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"Indian, Indian What did you die for? Indian says nothing at all. " my take is that 2 some natives life must have just been a beautful dream, not examined or conquered. if u asked an indian wut he was doing with his life, hed b like, y nuttin at all. theres something to that especially how we all rush around all the time now |

| The Doors – Babylon Fading Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i think babylon is like the ideal promised land. america had the potential 2 b the new babylon but amid all the squalor its fading. its especially potent when we think about the hippie movement back then, they had the potential 2 really change the world 4 the better but 4 the most part they pissed it away thru drugs and selling out babylon fading around us |

| The Doors – The Celebration Of The Lizard Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i think jim is telling males how 2 live. we cant be warm like the women, we need to sometimes be cold to the world. and he who can be most cold, most detached, most serpentine can do anything. he is the king of all others...the lizard king. its a guy thing. but damn that mofo can write poetry tho huh? shadows of the trees, witnessing the wild breeze... 2 bad peeples get all caught up in morrisons bullshit, im sure he was just fucking with people w/ all his off the wall shit -- the indian story, the stage antics, the drugs and shit-- that was xtraneous. he was a genius with words and dangerously deep. |

| The Doors – Ghost Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
indians schmindians, its supposedly the ghosts of people passed telling us how to live. from birth -shake dreams from you hair, my pretty child- 2 life - the music and voices are all around us- 2 death -enter again the sweet forest, the hot dream, come with us- its the ghosts giving the living guidance and the final line is their advice on being human -- we're the only intelligent species that can delineate the finite in the infinite, aka everything in life is broken up and dances my opinion, morrison "the shaman" communicating w/ the spirit world, who tell us to chill everything in life is just dancing either way a badass song that gives me goosebumples when im hi. |

| Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| to finish rite quick, tootsie is rite in that i cant tell some1 else how to interpret it but i can say with some degree of confidence that the artist was expousing existential feelings.......also there IS something like magical about this song, almost no other pop song ever is built around an e flat progession. the dude who wrote this is touched. | |
| Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| agreed, thats the beauty of music -- it can only be interpreted never wholly defined. nevertheless to the astute observer, one can see things that are inclined by the artist to fit a certain framework, to have a rough idea of wut hes talkin about. and in clocks i think the lyrics are set up so that its hard to interpret it simply as another love song, the chorus and ending are far too openly existential -- i.e. the you being used is the "royal" you, meaing everybody as an individual, rather than you, the girl im hittin rite now. | |
| Tupac Shakur – Baby Don't Cry (Keep Ya Head Up II) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| only 2pac got balls enough to embrace the females and the shit they gotta go thru | |
| Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
man i hate when people get so caught up in the relationship aspect of songs. ya u can interpret them that way but its so tedious and cliche. the great songs, clocks obviously being a member, are always existential in nature -- about the mysterious and frail nature of human existence. Thats how I hear clocks. Everywhere u go theres clocks on the wall, ticking down reminding you that your time is passing. "closing walls and ticking clocks". And then the chorus is obviously a postive affirmation of existence, despite the missed opportunites and fuckups, you still are -- u exist right now and thats a gift, nothing else in the entire exploding cosmos compares with existence. Being finite in an infinte world. Its weird when I hear this song its like Im hearing god talking to me, and hes saying look dude shit is fucked up no doubt but you are man, and thats fucking incredible, existence takes always takes precendence over any bullshit confusion that never stops or missed opportunites. THe first couple of times I heard it it was like time stopped, not 2 sound melodramatic but nonetheless it fires up my drawers when i hear people thinking hes just talking about some girl. thats just according to me. |
