Ahh... pre-censorship... *much* better, *much* more honest.

Nine Inch Nails – The Perfect Drug Lyrics 21 years ago
Most of the time when there's a literal meaning and a possible symbolic meaning that there is no consensus on what's trying to be accomplished is both. He's talking about drugs AND lust (love?), making the connection between the two. They're damn similar.

If you don't know what this song means, look at Twist. It's about kinky, sweaty sex. I really think that the line "I'm just *dying* for your sins" is simply there because it's funny to twist it that way. Reznor is making a joke out of the phrase "Jesus is dying for your sins", making it sound like Jesus wants your hotness.

The Mars Volta – Televators Lyrics 21 years ago
Having lived in various depths of depression for the better part of my (comparatively brief) life, I love this song. I've always daydreamed of jumping to my death. It also thrills me that The Mars Volta abstracts all of their lyrics as much as they do. At first I thought "Jabberwocky?", but as I listened I realized that there was, in fact, meaning. This makes it all more exciting and broadly "good" for me. Usually I find meaning in things that are meaningless, and find that I'm just borderline insane. I may be borderline insane, but I've finally found meaning in something that was intended for just that. Thank you The Mars Volta.
