Although I was married long before this song was released. I would still play this song at a wedding. We played radio head and zero 7, among other things and I dont think any of those songs where about happy love. Love is hard as is marrige. We just picked songs that where beautifull and pasionate. Because its passion that makes love work.
Also I agree that the vocalist was simply stating a fact that he loved her, not that he was trying to woo her back. |

This is one of the best Snow Patrol songs ever and one of the best song I have heard in general. It really gets to me, comparing something as grusome as a blast, presumably a bomb, (but any blast conotates negativity) comparing it to beauty...I love it when others think that way. This song is about living for more, from a band that believes in god. And the referance to the novel Of Mice and Men; at the end of that novel charecter(1) kills his bestfriend(character 2) out of love. He kills his friend(2) who is mentally handycapped, becaused a mob of guys were after him with the intent of murdering him. Character 1 one gave character 2 a LOVING end. Read the novel for a better understanding of this. Obviously the novel is about mistakes, love and mercy. So do mice or men have second trys? |

I think this song is about him trying to convince himself that he is the only one he cares about so he can avoid the pain of everyday life and the people in it. Do you notice the conflicting look in his face as he trys to make himself believe his own lyrics, he waches himself in the mirror to see if he can even fool himself, he repetes it over and over not getting any closer. |
