"Manson and MJK are both perfect examples of why politics should not mix with music" - Redline ??????
You embarrassed yourself when u said GWB was an honourable man. I wonder what his hand puppet friend will tell him what to do tomorrow... |

I love the debates on here!
Anyway, what really riles me, is that APC (and Tool) are completely ignored in the UK. If one of the mediocre bands in britain (ie Embrace, The Streets, Oasis even) had written lyrics like these, they'd be hailed as geniuses. The music pages in the UK papers make me cringe with embarrassment. |

hmmmm, why are ppl mentioning Pink Floyd here? I'm pretty sure there's a page for them somewhere on this site.
As for the song, Damon is singing about the music executives of the world. The suits. Makes sense to me anyway. |

I love the bassline. One of their better B-sides in my opinion but not sure it would've sat well on 13. Who knows. The same was said about 'Young and Lovely' being ommitted from Modern Life.... |

I know what this song is more or less about cos you've all told me haha. But personally it just keeps reminding me of the band i'm in. We' WERE going places but recently the singer is refusing my lyrics cos he wants his name on the credits. Never mind that his have been ridiculed in the past. I'm influenced by MJK and Thom Yorke, he likes Oasis....nuff said. Thankyou for listening to my rant! |

I have to agree with pikki on this one. Why is everyone trying to nail the songs meaning down to one particular thing? I write lyrics and several of my songs are about more than one subject. They're nowhere near the standard of Maynards lyrics though, who, i'm not ashamed to say, leaves me completely baffled at times. For me its all part of apc's allure. MJK is a phenomenal lyricist, and long may it continue. |

i see it as a pre-cursor to Girls&Boys. Meeting at the watering-hole. Except in England you have a lot more to worry about than when you're in, say Magaluf! |

Sorry, but the lyrics at the top of the page are wrong. "I'll get up around two". Its even in the cd sleeve.
As for the song itself, pass.... |

Definately one of Blurs more understated songs. (at least its on the Best of album...)
As for what he's singing about i heard 2 different stories. One was that he wrote it after hearing a shipping forecast, the other was that its about heroin. I personally like to think he was getting pissed off while on tour. haha |

| Blur – Trimm Trabb Lyrics

Well, i've never tried to decipher lyrics to be honest cos i spend long enough writing my own, but i think it may not be as bad as LetitFlow says. (no offence dude)
Maybe he's talking about the 'Lad' image he grew to hate so much? Trim trab are a make of trainers, "like the flash boys have". He may be also admitting that due to his being part of the 'lad' culture of the 90's, no matter what he does he will always be remembered for it. "I cant go back".
Thats just my thoughts tho, so please feel free to add to it |

"Holding on for dear life" is a reference to watching the world whizz by while you take a back seat. Which is something i try to do more and more since hearing this song. |

| Blur – The Universal Lyrics

I remember reading that this was a song written originally about a drug called the Universal with a very upbeat backing track. But as it is, its a beautiful song. I also remember seeing an interview with Damon saying that after the filming of this video he realised it was too much. It was wrong. The whole Britpop thing was way out of hand. As a result, we were served Blurs eponymous album, and i for one think it is/was one of their best yet! |

What?! No posts on this song? I'm embarrassed! Anyway, ever since i saw Blur play this at Glastonbury i've been hooked. (they play it better live too). A chorus without any vocals isnt a common thing but this song somehow manages to flow fantastically. There, thats my thought anyhow..... |

Correct again Dougievile. Anyone heard the fan club released version of Death of a Party? Its acoustic and, as much as i like the album version, is a far better track. |

Here here Dougievile! I grew up with Blur and was one of 2 out of approx 50 Oasis fans. And their ignorance was amazing! You never saw Blur fans trying to dress and look like Damon. It was, as far as i'm concerned, an intelligence matter. I had lads 5 years older than me trying to be Liam, surely u grow out of that kind of thing at junior school! btw Popscene is just another example of Blurs diversity. |

I can't believe no-one knows what a Beetlebum is!! Damon said himself it was just a word he made up while they rehearsed the song, and when the time came to change it the rest of the band said he may as well keep it. As for the rest of the song, i agree with the acid theory. But who knows..... |

| Radiohead – Let Down Lyrics

well this is my first post and i'll be way down at the bottom of the page....but hey, so what?
I just wanna say that i'm a huge radiohead fan but this song really hit home at a troubled stage of my life, and has since continued to inspire me to write a lot of my own material to date. Its also good to know there are other people out there that actually give a shit about the songs they listen to. Anyone else abhor daytime radio? |
