Manchester Orchestra – I Can Barely Breathe Lyrics 18 years ago

"am i just going too farfetched when i say there might be religious undertones?"

I'd say more like religious overtones:
"someone's got the answers,
but i'd rather think there's nothing to be found"
"because if seeing is believing,
then believe that we have lost our eyes"

^Those two lines sound a lot like arguments in favor of God's existence.

Motion City Soundtrack – Time Turned Fragile Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it's about a little brother... not a son.
"do you still believe in the stories told
to you by my friends and i
when you were four years old"
Not something you would do to your son it seems.

I think that everybody should thank Erica for her incredibly in-depth analysis of this song. How she came up with this conclusion is a guess to me. I mean, it's not like the chorus of the song says "You said we were an accident, you'll always be my favorite one."

Taking Back Sunday – Bonus Mosh Pt. II Lyrics 21 years ago
You guys are complete morons for calling Deja Entendu a letdown or saying that Brand New has "gone soft". Seriously, please kill yourselves and learn what good music is. If anything was a letdown this year it was Where You Want to Be. Sure I listen to it every once in a while, but I'd much rather listen to TAYF. This album didn't seem like an evolution at all, just the same old TAYF stuff with a new singer and the same formulaic style.

Straylight Run – The Tension and the Terror Lyrics 21 years ago
It's just about a guy who's really in love with a girl and she just sees him as a really good friend. The line "I'm going straight to hell" is preceded by "Thin-limbed gorgeous green eyes smiling" leading me to believe that the reason for the straight to hell line is because lust is one of the seven deadly sins. The guy sees that the relationship could work, and they have so much in common, but she's not willing to give him a chance: "All the possibility and the promise just ways on me so heavily". He can't find a way to get over her. The whole chorus is more of him idolizing her basically. It's weird for them to talk/be around each other because of his feelings, but even though they might not have the greatest conversations, he's hanging on her every word. I think the "We're so much better off than them" line is the way he views their possible relationship. He thinks that they have so much in common and go so well together that they could be so much better than everyone else, better than any other couple, make each other better people. I also think another possibility in this verse is that the "we" might not refer to the guy and the girl, but possibly the guy and his concious, or other half. The side that's telling him to drop it because he has no chance. He loves the way she looks at him, her beutiful smile, every second of the day he regrets that he can't have a relationship with this wonderful person. This clearly is devestating to him...she's practically all he cares about in life.

Straylight Run – Existentialism on Prom Night Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't think it's about the Adam-John thing at all...
Considering they weren't close to making up when this song was written it just doesn't make sense. Not everyone song by TBS or SR is about the other...

Straylight Run – Your Name Here (Sunrise Highway) Lyrics 21 years ago
Why did they say Carmen's Avenue instead of Carmens Rd? Just to make it fit better with the music I guess. And really, nobody from outside of NY will notice anyway.
